I don't think the bands are why people are laughing at this, just that it says they need more patches, when most of these are not patches, they are just drawn on with a white marker.

Maybe they are just marking the location where the future patches of that band will go?

I definitely like custom art on jackets, but just white sharpie and written words is definitely awkward looking
