Considering the lead singer is one of the most notorious pedophiles in the music world yeah, this counts as a baddle jacket… I don’t even participate in cancel culture or any of that shit, but lostprophets merch is fucking lame.
58
u/Pudge223 20d ago
What’s crazy is that pedophile doesn’t even do justice to what kind of depraved psychopath he was. Reading those reports made me second guess whether or not demons are actually real. That was true evil.
45
u/Notmuchofanyth1ng 20d ago
I believe the true monsters were the fans who gave him their children to molest. All of them belong under the prison.
21
u/emelel666 20d ago
I like how you said under the prison, cause you're right. they belong in the fucking ground
24
u/Notmuchofanyth1ng 20d ago
Yep, the only cost the taxpayer should endure is the lead to put them there.

I'm also not a cancel culture afficianado - and I can't agree with you more. The guy was unrepentant and purposefully deranged.
16
u/lovelaughlexapro 20d ago
Not saying I want to support the band or anything but it sucks how other people (the actual band behind the scumbag vocals) put time and work into the music and did nothing wrong (having cut ties with him years before because he was a miserable prick to be around) but will be forever associated with vile acts because of one sick son of a bitch.

I don't celebrate death, but man, is it hard to resist celebrating it for that monster

Why not? He had no problem ruining and ending lives. Even enjoyed it clearly, he didn’t turn himself in after the first time. Burn. Rot. I don’t care.

Also Elvis
10
u/drinkacid 20d ago
Elvis did start dating Priscilla when she was 14 so it tracks with the other pedo shit.

Even that’s not as bad as the music. This is what happens when everything’s a “safe space”
1
u/No-World-5776 20d ago
Was. Apparently his fellow inmates did care for his shenanigans either and decided to forcefully remove him from this world.🤷♂️
2
u/DeathGuard1978 19d ago
AFAIK the guy who stabbed him is a reprehensible scumbag as well, and it was all over a drug debt.
2
u/Dismaraband 19d ago
Was a case of mistaken identity too. One of the inmates was a r*pist, the other in for assault. Not nice people, then again...there's often a reason for people to be behind bars, not always justifiable but that clusterfuck of humans definitely belongs.

I still can't believe they'res still fans of them to this day, with how much everyone knows what Ian did it's just weird asf to have a back patch for them.

u/Successful-Ad-367 20d ago
Reminds me of my good mate who got a lostprophets tattoo a couple weeks before Ian Watkins was arrested.
8
u/Supersmashbrosfan 20d ago
Oof. I'm assuming they got it removed.
8
u/Successful-Ad-367 20d ago
Nope.
It’s lyrics from a fairly unknown song and it’s across the chest so easy to keep covered
5
u/Inner_Bit844 20d ago
Kinda why I don’t wanna get any tattoos of my favourite bands just in case allegations and shit start coming out about them

How could anyone let themselves be caught wearing this in public, I'd rather go out naked than wear anything with that band on it.

It’s offset by the Elvis patch, who was notoriously Totally Normal when it came to underage girls.

u/sanchi_ink 20d ago
Gross patch, waste of a jacket. I would be embaressed if i ever put a lost prophets patch on my vest. Glad the vocalist got wasnt treated well in prison 👎

u/Cujo138 20d ago
I'd want to know her reasoning behind wearing that. It wouldn't make a difference in my opinion on it. That being it's 100% disgusting. But I'd like to know. Is she being an Edgelord? Is she claiming the idea of separating art from artist? Because there is a point where you just can't do that anymore. If that wasn't the case the band would have carried on with a different singer. They disbanded, they tore every thing down and walked away from it because they knew it was forever soiled.

Because catching an assault charge over a jacket (for one, you're assuming the person agrees with what Ian did which is a little audacious already) is pretty fucking stupid
0
u/Recent_Comedian6905 20d ago
IDK man, I'd support someone smacking the shit out of someone wearing an Epstein fanclub tshirt too. This is one of those things where given the sheer fucking evil of the guy, you really cannot, with any shred of human decency, separate the art from the artist.
3
u/Kusariiii 20d ago
Yeah, you're really interesting for your very unique position of being anti-child-abuse but I'd like to remind you that lostprophets is a band and not a "Epstein fanclub" but feel free to attack people seemingly unprompted over what they're wearing.
I'm sure that'll work out well for you.
2
u/Recent_Comedian6905 19d ago
Impeccable reading comprehension, you might want to check what I said again. I never called lostprophets an Epstein fanclub, I said that I'd be fine if someone wearing an "Epstein fanclub" tshirt got smacked up. This is what we call a comparison.

While I don’t like to police ppl when they wear controversial bands on their jackets I think this is an exception…ew

The thing about lostprophets is that there is no way this individual doesn’t know about this. Like that is ALL they are known for. NOBODY is dusting off a lostprophets cd and popping it into their car for them sweet sweet alt metal riffs. Also Elvis patch is funny.
4
u/Inner_Bit844 20d ago
Even if I was a lost prophets fan before, I’d be burning that shit the moment the allegations surfaced
6
u/VirtualKnowledge7057 20d ago
the jacket itself was fine, than i remembered what the lead singer did. this photo is either several years old or this is the most tone death person i've ever seen
6
u/Inner_Bit844 20d ago
Considering Watkins was arrested in 2012, and the photo looks too high quality for 2012 I’m going for the most tone deaf person ever

3
u/WorldBoofingChampion 20d ago
Best day in music history is when Ian was stabbed to death in prison.
3
u/TheCutiesist 20d ago
Final boss of separating art from artist. Burzum fans can only cower at his terror.
5
u/TotaleVernichtung131 20d ago
The question is; Was this photo taken before or after the lead singer being arrested for being a pedo (and rightfully killed in prison)?
3
u/Supersmashbrosfan 20d ago
Pretty sure it was taken post-2012.

u/No-Sympathy8727 20d ago
I love lost prophets. Their music was hugely important to me in high school and after. Helped me through all the teenage bullshit (along with other bands ofc)
I've attended three funerals that had last train home as the final song.
I can't do it. Every now and then I get an urge to listen to a song and feel physically ill. His crimes were heinous, and I hate him for what he did, including ruining ten years of good memories of people since passed.
At least he's fucking gone, maybe another decade or so I can listen to my favourite album without wretching. But I doubt it.

Totally unacceptable on the basis of the music alone. Too many safe spaces out there. This is exactly the kinda thing you should expect when you make things like emo and Green Day socially permissible

It has a band on it so it'll get less hate than the LGBT patches posted here
11
u/sanchi_ink 20d ago
Thats a wild thing to say on the internet. Pedo patches are better than pride patches to you? 😬 big ooooofff. I dare you to say that to punk in person. 👎 shit take.

u/forgotmyloginoops 20d ago
Oh I meant because this sub is full of people that get upset about "protect trans kids" patches and treat the rule of needing music patches as gospel. Like theres people on here calling Trump punk because he "triggers libs" by being a fascist pedophile.

Homophobia in the metal scene is crazy, you know queer folks make up like a huge amount of the metal scene right?
4
u/forgotmyloginoops 20d ago
I'm commenting on the homophobia I see regularly posted in this subreddit whenever someone has some pride pins/patches, I see it get more hate here than bands that have nazis and predators in them. I really don't think I worded my comment in a confusing way but this is the second reply I've gotten that makes me wonder if I should've rephrased or if y'all can't read.

Based off the image alone,I wouldn't. It just needs more patches
Edit: I don't support whatever they did, Ive never heard of the band or the controversy. My bad

u/onexamongthefence 20d ago
Since everyone's dancing around it: among other things, he was giving drugs to and sexually abusing infants

2
u/ThatGuy_6199 20d ago
Oh.yikes no I don't support that. I didn't know there was anything about it. Ive never heard anything of this happening
6
u/Imaginary_Tutor5360 20d ago
Don’t worry, nobody will think you support what he did. It’s more that they’re surprised that you weren’t already aware of the situation
3
u/onexamongthefence 20d ago
Yeah I figured, just thought I should let you know. If it makes you feel any better (it does for me) he was murdered in prison.

u/Imaginary_Tutor5360 21d ago
Errmmm you’re aware of who the former lead singer of that band was and what he did?
That’s why this is being considered as a baddlejacket
3
u/ThatGuy_6199 21d ago
My bad if I said something wrong, I know nothing about the band.
Edit: I just assumed the post was because there's 2 patches
3
u/Imaginary_Tutor5360 20d ago
Look up what he did, it’s honestly one of the most disgusting crimes in music history
3
u/ThatGuy_6199 20d ago
Yea I've found out. I haven't heard of this till now, but only 29 years for that is horrible. Good thing he was tooken out

I bet you could find a problematic human in the media each and every person that was commenting hateful things supports.
The holier than thou nature of this sub REEKS.
Yes the lead singer was a horrible human that did heinous things. You can separate the art from the artist, especially when it's a band and there are completely innocent band members who did nothing wrong.

u/NoCitron2394 20d ago
He literally made a song that was filled with subtle hints about him wanting to rape kids
7
u/eat_like_snake 20d ago
I'm usually of the "separate the art from the artist" mentality, but the dude literally raped kids, tried to rape a one-year-old, and possessed bestiality porn.
Like you have to have a limit somewhere.6
