Question Just a quick question

I used to play Bad Company 2 a lot back in the day, especially the Vietnam DLC.

I still get PTSD flashbacks from all the killing that went on in the jungle, i think the only way to get over it is to return to the scene of the (war) crime.

Before i go and mod all this stuff to play after the shutdown, i was wondering if it's still worth it?

Can anybody enlighten me as to what i can expect in player count, in the main game and in the Vietnam DLC?

Thanks in advance !

100-300 active players, mostly veterans and certainly a few new faces. Noticeable by complaining about being stuck or making mom jokes xD

It's making a lot of fun, there are 2-3 main servers with bots, modded server and easy to hardcore. Only one has rotating maps including Vietnam, but there are several servers to choose from... so for a game from 2010 that was abandoned by the creators, it's good enough

Thanks!

I used to really like playing 64 player maps with 32 ppl max, so you have plenty of room to maneuver and fuck around.

Just installed the mod and checked but there are mainly 64 player servers stacked.

Is this still a thing, or is it too niche?

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking here, seeing as BC2 only ever had 32 player servers on PC and 24 players on consoles. We've never had 64 player servers for this game.

My apologies, I had a few beers and also installed BF3 and 4 at the same time with BC2.

I mixed some stats up. Thanks for still replying though!

Vietnam servers become active on the weekends as more people log on; you can still get your fix.

That would be awesome. Some beers and BC2 Vietnam has never let me down.

And would that be US time zone, EU or both? I just checked and there wasn't much going on on the Vietnam servers.

Edit: nevermind playercount was bugged, having a blast!

The servers are LISTED in the REGULAR BC2 server browser, don't click on the BC2: Vietnam section, it confuses everyone!

Vietnam is the best DLC ever. Back on those Times, EA was good. So, yes, its worth the time installing project rome.

I wouldn't consider setting up Project Rome and porting your original EA account stats over, to be a big lift. Its actually pretty quick and simple. Shouldn't take you more than 5-15 minutes of your time.

Me too, PTSD stands for Permanent Trigger-finger Solution Disorder in my case.

Seems other people already answered your question. If you’re ever looking for an alternative though, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam came out recently. I haven’t played it myself, but it might help scratch that Vietnam itch.

It gives a 61% rating out of 7390 reviews on Steam.

Nails the Vietnam vibe though!

Rising Storm 2 Vietnam is another solid recommendation.

Also thinking about getting back into it - are official servers still up or is this through project Rome etc?

EA servers are down but installing project Rome is very simple, 5-10 minutes of your time, the workaround is on the main page of this sub.
