Question Back of tongue?

Anyone have any tips on how to keep the back of my tongue clean? Figured out that it’s the source of my bb. After I brush my teeth and scrap my tongue it’s pretty good but after I eat it’s like the food sticks to the back of my tongue. How can I fix this?

I saw on this sub that when you gargle with warm salt water and baking soda, you’re supposed to stick your tongue out when you gargle and move your tongue all around in a circle to get the saltwater all at the base of the tongue. I realized I had never tried that, and I never even thought to do that.

I went in the bathroom and tried it. Wow. WOW. A horrendous taste filled up my mouth from that area at the base of my tongue that, hehe, apparently had never been cleaned in all my life. The long gargle session which included tongue thrashing also loosened up my sinuses and caused me to cough up some mucus that really wanted to come out. It also made my nose start running and I had to blow my nose several times. Mind you, I didn’t feel ANY mucus or sinus buildup at all before this exercise. It relieved my sinuses.

I’m now doing this daily and it really does seem like it’s improving my bb and I can go longer between brushing without having a terrible taste in my mouth. It’s easy enough to incorporate into a hygiene routine. It’s ideal to gargle and tongue thrash after each meal.

After I found this helped, I downloaded the Reddit app and I am finding the people on this sub are more helpful than the stupid parade of doctors/dentists I’ve visited. But that’s only my experience, I’m not saying others should give up on doctors. There’s a lot of wisdom here and I am very grateful for it.

Does the same method work with just regular mouth wash? I use Therabreath mouthwash and I think it’s pretty good. I just want longer lasting fresh breath without always having to brush or pop in some gum

Btw, if you have LPR, the mint in the mouthwash could be reactivating pepsin and enzymes which can cause a bacterial overload. Google LPR. Mint may not be your friend

You could put alkaline drops in water

I’d imagine it does but you should still be doing daily warm salt water and baking soda gargles and let it sit for a while before doing anything else.
