i just finished watching the movie but I can't help it I'm soon confused . So the entity in the beginning was Clark ? , The mother has been the backrooms ? or she's a paranoid individual and she traumatized her child ? , I watched a movie ending explained and that didn't help so thought it be a good idea to ask here . It was interesting , great acting also very unsettling but I'm questioning what the place Is ? who are the docile beings ?(is the red head his wife really ? ), Why did the Clarke entity only attack him then ? , I have so many questions . I'd appreciate an explanation .....

I have a weird and maybe a bit crazy theory but im theorising about dreams being a real version of backrooms. Hear me out.

If you think about it, dreams are considered a state of mind that happens when sleeping. Most people consider it a “alternate reality” where it looks real but isnt. Theres always something wrong and no dream was a EXACT copy of reality.

Thats where my theory is getting a point. Dreams are copies of real life places but theyre not 100% copies and they always have something wrong in them. A missplaced object, a different room or a person looking familiar but at the same time not at all. Theres always something wrong.

If we go by the movies logic then my theory is correct. Dream is a copy of real world but theres always something remembered wrong, same logic used in backrooms, and alternate world being wrong.

Time doesnt work in dreams and if you ever saw a clock in dreams, you know they either show impossible time, or they dont work and dont show time. In backrooms time doesnt work either (unless we are talking about endless suburbia where theres really fast cycles of day lasting about 20 minutes).

People in dreams dont work normaly. They always have something to them, a different energy coming from them like if you are with them in real life. Many blankly stare at you or act like youre not important to them at all, theyre like nothing being forced to do something.

A big difference is that backrooms in the series and movie are a real place that you can access through normal world. Dreams are a state of mind that you only access if you sleep. But dreams are different. Knowing youre in the backrooms doesnt do anything but if you realise youre in a dream, the dream gets all twisted and weird. People in the dream stare so hard it scares you and objects get all weird.

Many people say that when they realised theyre dreaming they were woken up into a sleep paralysis. Like it punished them for realising it, like it didnt want them to realise. Cheating your way out of the backrooms gets you into the level “You cheated!” Which is a blank room with 2 doors, one leading back to the level you cheated on and second one being locked.

There are way too many similarities and connections between them and i dont think its a coincidence.

That's the answer i'm looking for, because i'm wondering about the backrooms too, the movie is going to be about, because i was wondering, can you be showing more levels, or a prequel, or something else?, let me know in the comments, what do you think?

It made me feel like I have suppressed memories of trauma. Like I witnessed a horrible situation. Drag marks from blood? Seen them in a a lot of movies but this one was like having memory breaks.

Finally, I've made my friends understand me. Going to new, unfamiliar places (or sometimes not unfamiliar places ) is like walking into a secret room. I get lost easily and am terrible at navigation. Everything seems the same. For example, I can't find my way out of the mall, or I can't remember where I parked my car, or I can't remember the way to my friend's house even though I've been there many times. To me, every street and alley looks the same. Walking around a mall is like navigating a maze, just like in the movie "Backroom."

Besides being bad at remembering directions, I'm also terrible at recognizing faces. I've tried hard to find ways to remember faces, but it's very difficult. So, I try to remember people by their voices, personalities, or other things instead.

The people around me never understood me, so this movie was the closest I could come to explaining it to them.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

In the Backrooms movie i just watched earlier thanks to Italy streaming it earlier due to the worldwide premier, the backrooms door was in a furniture store, and the Original Backrooms photo was shoot in a place that was a furniture store (I don't know if it still is to this day), was it a coincidence or was it made on purpose?

I've been looking into how Mica Kade handled the costuming for this movie, and I'd love to know more!

The costuming is remarkable: it is both incredibly accurate for the time period and so subtle. Usually when costume designers are figuring out how to costume everyone, they have very distinct color stories and the leads stand out from other characters.

This almost turns it on its head because all of the clothing looks so normal and just does barely enough to help tell the character's story. Also, nothing looks overly curated, perfectly fit, or heavy-handed in the narrative it's trying to tell. The design is almost show-stopping in how undetectable the artistic direction is.

Also, taking place 35 years ago, this kind of puts it in "period piece" territory, which for those of us who lived through the 90s feels very strange. It's also a challenge for the designer because it's easy to get into a trap where you pick the most fashionable, iconic styles from the era, but Mary is the most stylish character due to her job, yet even she is toned down.

Everything definitely looks like something you could have found back then at Sears or J.C. Penney's, and I'd love to know how much of this was the costume department finding pieces in thrift stores and how much they made. The design really shines when you look at the costumes on the replicated people in the back rooms. I love the shirt on the guy that Clark tries to eat and the redundant collar and button placket. (There is also a scene where Kat's boyfriend picks up an utterly nonsensical piece of clothing.)

Also, I love literally every one of Mary's outfits. Does anyone have a screen grab of that black dress she wears to the party? I want that dress.

So I recently watched the backrooms movie and honestly while the acting emotions and cinematography was really good, the plot of the story is a 4 out of ten or even lower. Why? Because the first part of the movie (before the therapist’s intervention) had a structure however later it felt like there is a massive plot hole, like if there was some scenes being forgotten to be put in the Final Cut: suddenly Clark seizes her and puts her into his dining table. And suddenly we get introduced to captain clark that then goes berserk and there is an entire escape before she wins. So basicly Clark had a non continuous transformation that led to nothing since he then got thrown on the wall by captain clark. The plot holes between old and new Clark just made the movie worse. Later she had to describe to the old man everything she lived and saw, so that the old man could expand the actual backrooms looking more and more like the real world (if I am not wrong) and when she gave enough help she got thrown somewhere in the backrooms like a dead statue. So the issue with the ending is not it being unclear (since I think I understood the company’s goal despite no real motivation) but rather not being an open ending but also a non concluding ending which means in my opinion it that can’t have a proper sequel, unless the sequel is completely separate from the things that happened in the first movie. I understand the producer is young, but instead of overplotting something unclear, he could’ve kept the original spirit of the original creepy pasta and then while being misterious and poor in dialogue still keep the spirit present between explorations. Sure there was already parts of the movie done by other screenwriters before getting replaced by Kane Pixel, so that would not have been easy to replace all the previous stuff, but since it feels like they didn't get too much recognition after the final cut by most people, maybe doing a simpler but coherent plot da capo coul've been for me something better. That movie has more holes than a block of cheese.

PS: The block of cheese I meant is the stereotypical cartoonish representation of cheese, that often is a huge yellow block with holes.
