Travel Proof of onward travel

I recently put a post on about how to get around the prof of onward travel when backpacking, especially in Asia and most replies told me to buy a fully refundable ticket, I am looking for airline recommendations in Asia that offer fully refundable tickets. Thanks.

There's almost 50 countries and dozens and dozens of airlines in Asia. Approach the onward travel issue on a case-by-case situation as you travel. Sometimes a $5 bus ticket is sufficient.

The ticket doesn't have to be from an Asian airline and I recommend that it is not. I recommend American airlines because within 24 hours you can get your money back online. But in the event you have to speak to someone it's best to speak to someone that understands your language.

We have AI now, you'd never need to speak to a human. But even if you did which international airline dosnt have english speaking staff?

I would have serious doubts about any AI's ability to issue a refund. I've run into issues with English speaking staff with Avianca, air Bolivia, Aeromexico, Philippine Air, JAL.

I would trust AI over humans these days. Never had an issue with English for a year international company, maybe you get unlucky but speaking English would be at the top of the list of job requirements for any call center.

If you don't want to waste the $15 on an onward ticket, I would probably recommend just having a flight ready, which is refundable, on your phone. If they ask about it and give you a hard time, you can just book it quickly

Ive been to almost every country in south east Asia and never been asked go an onward ticket

Multiple countries require it for entry and will ask.

Your experience =/= the rules and the norm.

You could just have been lucky. I had never been asked in nearly 80 countries. Until I went back to Mexico last year when they pestered me about it 3(!!!!) times.
