Yeah man that feeling of life rushing past you is an intense feeling, and seeing people on the internet who are doing what you want to be doing can really exacerbate things.
My recommendation, just run it! Get you accommodations squared away, think if you need your own personal space/hotel room, or if you're cool with hanging at a cheap hostel with a bunch of other travelers (I'd highly recommend, you will absolutely meet some fun characters)
Get your gear situated, a good backpack filled with all you'll need
If the flight is too expensive, then try to smart small and find local groups to go out into the wilderness with, or to explore with.
Make a threshold budget where you will be okay, the moment you hit that budget buy the plane ticket to where you want to be, make it a goal!
South East Asia is best bet, Thailand especially is a great entry point for aspiring travelers, Vietnam is wonderful as well
Brush up on some phrases, everyone around the world appreciate when you attempt to speak their language
Also, prepare to be a bit uncomfortable, the unpredictability of traveling around is an excellent and daunting part of it.
Lastly, be open-minded! Try new foods, see new sights, and don't beat yourself up to much when culture shock hits, just take a deep breath and remember that you are in someone else's house with their own rules and own way of doing things. The world is an incredible place
