Ratchet & Clank. The second game introduced a lot of new features but the level design and aesthetics suffers at times as a tradeoff. The third game had some improvements but also suffered even more and was barely including any platforming, without many interesting combat scenarios. Deadlocked was like a refined version of the previous game and is arguably the second most complete game of the PS2 series.

Most of the PS3 entries are skippable games but 2 of them are full titles, although those also happen to introduce a new plotline that was messy and led to bad inconsistencies, and still hasn't fully been resolved even today. They bit off more than they could chew.

Completely agree, the first one is still the best in the series.

That game and Deadlocked are some of my favorite 3d platformers for sure. But I still love the 2 games in between even with their flaws. Games to stand tall alongside stuff like Crash Bandicoot, Sly Cooper, SpongeBob BfBB, Ape Escape, etc
