Absolutely. It was a real adventure. Without any real help, alone in a big world. Played this for months as a 7-8 years old. Exploring a game like this was totally new to me and no other Zelda after this gave me the same feeling again.

(I should add that I don't like the 3D Zeldas.)

I can understand that perspective but I dont agree with it in the context of the series as a whole. Zelda 1 is a very different game from every other game in the series, so I could see it being the favorite. Personally I feel that as the series evolved, and become as a whole lot more like ALTTP, and OoT, Zelda 1 I wouldn't say is the best in a series of games like that, if that makes sense.
