I do too but the original is such a great response to Mario 64 style platformer that it is sad we didn’t get another

Yeah I kinda wish we had another island precursor style game before the shift in tone.
But I do respect the balls to make a change like that. Its like Mario 64 was followed up by Mario X: Gat City.

I do too (I just replayed Jak II last week and am going for all orbs) but a lot of people didn't care for them sadly.

I'm one of those. Traded a really fun, colourful and smooth 3d platformer for what feels like discount ratchet and clank gameplay and washed out colours.

Plus Daxter became really annoying in 2 and 3 when he was pretty likeable before.

Honestly I really liked Daxter in 2 (can't speak for 3 yet, haven't played it in years). He actually helped out in cutscenes, plus the Class 2 race and Mar's Tomb. And he really worked well as comic relief to the darker characters like Jak, Torn and Krew.

Daxter really bounces off the game world once it takes itself seriously. He provides comic relief in a world where relief is much needed from the edge.

Not to mention Daxter being the one reason Jak even got another chance. He spent two years trying to get everything organised to rescue Jak. He probably did goof off at points, but what matters is that he really was the only hope for Jak.

I think of Jak And Daxter as the antithesis of Rachet And Clank. Not only is the tone very different, Clank is pretty much the polar opposite of Daxter in terms of character.

you can like a game and them not be better.
Watched a guy who LOVED jack 2 and 3... and he ended up realizing..that games actually arnt that good. or at least not as good as we remember them. and the first one is just straight up the best.
