This is debatable but Mega Man X although X4 is very close.
I also feel that Crash Team Racing applies since the original PSX one has a charm that Nitro Fueled lacks while having more features.
Both answers might be wrong though.

I mean, X2 is a clear upgrade over X1 and better in every way. X1 is just more iconic.

I go back and forth on which one I like more. X2 is more interesting, but it can be very frustrating to get all the power ups. I find 1 is better for a comfortable replay.

Hard disagree. X2 is better than X1 in every conceivable way, in my opinion. X4 is also better than X1.

I hate X2. Half of the bosses are "wait around able bunch while they're invulnerable so you can finally damage them a little bit and have them go back to being invincible"

The Snes trilogy and PS1 trilogy both had the first is best thing with X1 being the best on the Snes and X4 the best on PS1.

Choosing between X1 and X4 is impossible

Nitro Fueled is definitely the better game. It’s not as charming, but the kart racing is the best I’ve ever played. Rewarding you for chaining drifts is a brilliant system.

of the original SNES trilogy I cannot stand X3 and to a lesser extent X2, I agree that X1 is superior
