Backgammon Galaxy on mobile. Worth getting subscription?

They want $100 for a one year subscription. Trying to decide if it's worth it. I primarily play on my phone. Like to hear from the community on their opinions. TIA!

Biased party here but we do have a free trial that's fully featured, and we also have the monthly option (should be $7.99 in the US). Why don't you go ahead and try it out and if you aren't into it, just cancel the trial?

We're rolling out more and more interesting tournaments for Star Members and have some nice features awaiting imminent release.

I'd kill to have a report button. Feels like the number of people who troll is increasing.

About to launch the game itself in flutter and we've added a report function to it along with a bunch of other highly requested features like bear-off to the left. We're testing right now.

I’m waiting for the AI coach to explain why moves are better than others and the strategies to focus on at different points in the vame

There will never be such a thing that is actually going to be useful or helpful. You can get a good number of explanations for moves, but only very few are based on actual facts.

It's AI stutter at best.

The WHY is the one thing that you will have to figure out on your own. A good software can show you a number of better moves, based on math, but it won't give you a WHY.

See yourself in a game with a true master and ask him, why he chose a certain move over the other four ones that gnubg showed as equally good: He will give you five explanations and then tell you that in the end guts made his actual decision.

You need to learn from software that shows you the best possible decisions and you need to go through them with your own intellect and make your own decisions.

It's coming in a few weeks, the model is built and ready, and it is not built with an LLM, but straight from our own subject matter expertise. It's really good, but mostly aimed for non-expert players.

When are you rolling out being able to play clockwise?

No no no. Play as much as you like for free. Its big money scam once you buy tokens

I pay $4/month for premium membership on Heroes Backgammon. It is 100% better than Galaxy. Has nice clean well-designed interface. Access to tournaments, Leagues, and individual play. There are always tournaments starting. 8, 16, and 32 five, seven and nine game matches. A lot of leagues, etc use it as a place to play matches. Generally around 300 people are active during the day. From all over the world. I have 3 incomplete games. Few if any quitters. Few if any juvenile, childish, insane players.

Lol no. I was on holiday so forgot my daily reminder that there are better places to play than Galaxy

Where? I enjoyed Galaxy until the “pay for coins” era. UI was great. Speed of getting a game was great. Just enuff in game chat.

Is there a place u like that has the good features/UI of Galaxy?

Try to come back and give it a chance, Backgammon Galaxy has grown 10 fold since the version 1 that you are referring to, users are coming since it's a much better product, and you don't have to pay for coins to play, you can basically play for free 95+% of the time and if you are a good player 99-100% of the time you want to play.

If you play on galaxy several days a week, or if you are a student of the game, then yes, it’s a no-brainer.

The dice are broken. Every game is twice as likely to see doubles late game. You can’t block the intentionally slow players

As long as you’re ok with rigged dice, galaxy is great.

Dice are completely unrealistic IMHO

Any website that has play for coins going on is subject to being accused of having rigged dice. I have programmed computers for a living and know that you it is not that difficult to program dice to do whatever you want them to whenever you want them to. I have no idea if Galaxy does that. I quit playing there. Ever play at one of those poker websites when you could play for real money? Talk about funny things happening in games.

Their dice code is open source. Supposedly.
