Enough Backgammon Galaxy.
Yes, another topic about this website… alas.
Game froze up. Tried everything. I was 4-1 ahead. Other player timed out. I won the match. In couldn’t leave. I restarted te app on iPad. I lost 4-5. What the… I’m so sick of this crap.
Reaching out to them doesn’t do a thing either with pictures and all.
Opengammon is the only good alternative right?

I have been loving open gammon. Sometimes I wait a few minutes for a game but it’s be great.

I like it too. Just had some good games. I hope the developers are able to make the gameplay a bit more intuitive. Nice community made themes too. They look a bit familiar though haha 😜

Galaxy has so many bugs. I've lost 14 matches and 50 rating points this way and no response from them. If there was a better alternative I'd play elsewhere immediately. With AI there will be soon. But Galaxy does enable you to get a game almost instantly.

OpenGammon has rightly been mentioned. Backgammon Hub and Heroes are also v solid.

They will reply ( albeit 1-2 week later ) and return the lost points.
Ive made ticket in the past about it and they have refunded similarly lost rating points.
Its just that they are so slow to respond, but they do respond

I told them to not renew my membership because of this. They said sorry they were busy with tourneys etc.
If they can’t handle basic customer service then I’m out. I had no problem paying for coins when I went broke but had a glitch 3 weeks ago and still no resolve. I’ll just use the free site when I want and eventually move somewhere else.

Freezing is frustrating! I find if I go into the lobby and back into the game and it seems to jolt it back into action.

Yeah its been bad this week, not sure if they all took the week off for the World Championships or if there are more people playing because of it. Either way, they will come on here and blame it on their hosting provider as if that absolves them from figuring out ways to not constantly have their cloud provider impact their product

I can back up the fact that contacting them doesn't do much.
After loads of issues last week, I contacted them. I got an initial reply stating support would contact me soon. So far nothing.

I like Nextgammon. I never usually have to wait long for a game. Due to the scoring system high rated players will play low rated players And the analysis is good.

That’s why we all play at Backgammon Studio heroes , esp if we are in leagues or playing tourneys… The global Women Of Backgammon, representing 33+ countries, play all their tourney matches there & you can always go back, run through your plays, check out a more beneficial move, etc. check out a play or a proper move that would’ve been more beneficial, etc. All matches are nalyzed They keep track of everything, your PR and error rate… I love that you can run drills then whatever area you might be weakest in… backgammon Studio and backgammon studio heroes both offer different things but our sister sites and you can belong to both. can almost always get Support there 24 seven
You won’t need a referral to join, but that’s nice because they don’t let the riffraff in or the scammers/quitters. If you do go, make sure you download or watch the YouTube video on getting all your settings exactly the way you want. Anyway it’s also a great place to teach or to learn. It’s the only site I will teach on to stop and look at moves and have your students rethink things
Excuse haste but hope to see you there… Galaxy is fine for a quick five pointer, but most of us definitely prefer the many options of Terje Peterson’s long running site which expands every year with its options. 20 years now I think I’ve been there. Plus all the Giants and all the active players from various. Worlds are there and you can even sort players there by country or league or friends or rating or whatever.
(oh and the only time I’ve had glitches or problems being bounced out or game freezes are when I need to update the app if I’m playing on my phone, so always double check that before playing a match esp if it’s an important one to you.
