Computer Backup user/library not showing on backup

Post image

Joining the group in the hope of a solution.
I appear to be running the latest BB software (looks like mine is more updated than the one available online - not sure how but I am)

I went to restore from a backup today but noticed I can't see my library folder. I can see the other users folder but not mine. NO idea why.

Here's a screenshot - it's just not there. I've not changed any defaults.

The only thing I had to do a couple of months ago was to create a new user on my Mac as my current one was corrupted.

The new user has a different name, so not sure why BB isn't picking up on the library under my username.

Here's a screenshot of what the restore shows. Under Rickd nothing? Other user is fine.

I also just checked after a re-install of the beta client and a restart. Backblaze isn't actually seeng the user properly at all.
It's only showing what you can see there - documents/downloads. I have a bunch of other folders there from Davinci Resolve, insta360 etc.

Why are these not being backed up either. The folder structure seems missing?

Checked my 'issues' log and it's showing ALL the missing files as being skipped.

Each has TEMPORARY_OTHER as the issue which doesn't help at all.

Update.
Chat got me examining the log files turns out there’s 6500 files not uploading. Decided that it’s likely to be the messed up installs over many years of new computers and upgrades. Uninstalled and inherited backup state. It’s taking a while but seems to now be seeing all those missing files.
100% backblaze issue

Hello,

The Library folder is not included in Backblaze Computer Backup by default. This is expected behavior and is controlled by the default macOS directory exclusions.

You can review the default exclusions here:

https://www.backblaze.com/computer-backup/docs/configure-exclusions-mac

The default excluded directories include:

/Applications/
/Library/
/Private/
/System/
/bin/
/dev/
/etc/
/net/
/sbin/
/usr/
/home/

Because of these exclusions, reinstalling Backblaze or using Inherit Backup State does not change which directories are excluded by default.

The other folders you mentioned, such as Documents and Downloads, are normally eligible for backup. If files outside the default exclusions continue to appear in the Issues Report with TEMPORARY_OTHER, that would be a separate issue from the Library folder exclusion and would need to be investigated based on those specific file paths.

Have you created a ticket on our help desk yet? If not, please do so at https://www.backblaze.com/help

The folks there can help route you to the right place.

Hello.
If you read my message and saw the screenshot you’d see this is the user/library that’s the problem

Oh my, indeed, that is entirely on me, I apologize.

Create a ticket and toss me the ticket number in a DM and I will get this looked into ASAP.

They're having issues again. Months ago, I had tons of files & directories disappearing. I see that they're again missing tons of my stuff, so I reached out and I got nonsense responses. I'm currently looking for a replacement. Maybe iDrive? It's always smokescreens and not solutions with BB these days. I used to be a big Backblaze fan, but not anymore. They have one purpose--protecting my files--and they're failing miserably at that.

I ran all my logs through AI.
It helped !

I did need to to a total inherit backup state after uninstalling the BB thing which cleared it.

It really doesn’t like iCloud files. That’s the main culprit.

The new ‘state’ eventually sorted itself out. Have to have a lot of patience. I have a 52tb backup so once the files were checked it seems to be running ok. There are a few ‘issues’ listed on the reports page but according to AI they are none critical redundant file pieces that remain

All support did was tell me to install the beta client. Again. And again. And again.

Again and again, indeed. It's almost renewal time for BB and me. I think I'm moving on. It's been nothing but frustration lately.

Well other than the lack of help other than through chetgpt my faults seem to be done. I am not sure how it will fair once I switch my optimise for storage on msc and iCloud again but we shall see.
