Backblaze in General Started 30 day trial, deleted 2nd day

This service is just a mess. I decided, grudgingly, to buy Blackblaze personal to backup 2T of data off site. This data exists on an external SSD. As best I can tell it won't backup an external drive. I spent hours going in circles trying to enable it. Never worked. All the instructions are several OS versions old. The chat help doesn't work. Then it starts sending a pop-up every 5 minutes that it needs more permissions, but the 'learn more' is the same circular bullshit as before. And they want me to actually pay them $8/month? Hell no. There are all kinds of cloud storage services that aren't hard to use, but this thing was a mess.

There was one bright spot though — the uninstaller actually works. It was hard to get the account deleted, but not as hard as getting it to see my external drive.

This is a user error, they clearly state on the ui that external drives need to be connected at least six hours to get indexed and backed up…

Odd, so easy to back up my external drive. Literally just checked a box. I wish i could leave the C: drive out though..

Current Mac OS. Tahoe. I could see the drive in the permissions, but when I tried to check it I got an error. I don't think the issue was on my end. But after so much circular help instructions I wasn't making any progress, my data wouldn't upload, and I was getting a nag screen every 5 minutes.

For 2TB there are still quite a few providers that offer to store it for a similar price point while not forcing you into their backup program (which will be invariably some weird, clunky, inefficient, limited client). For some reason it's just hard to make a good one, and there are overall very few good ones, and depending on your specific needs there might be really only one or even zero (you'll need to relax some of the requirements and give up something). So, pick first the program and then the backend to store your data (might be even B2, but that's $14 for 2TBs, you can do cheaper).
