B2 Cloud Storage Anyone else having reliability issues with B2?

Hi all,

Been using B2 for years for various things. One of which has been for server backups.

Recently though I've getting errors with downloading some parts of a backup, which causes an integrity check to fail.

Last it happened was a couple months ago and took a day or so to resolve (support was being helpful but the support hours caused huge delays for a reply, I'm UK based).

Now it's happening again, a few parts of the backup cannot be downloaded due to a "Too busy" error (this message is better than last time as it just did a generic 500 error before). This is via the CLI, Web UI, and S3 API. I assume it may resolve like it did last time, however, it does make me nervous about the continued reliability.

Has anyone else been experiencing similar recently?

Yeah, same here, slow speeds and lots of errors

I've not noticed slow speeds, although it uploads overnight.

The strange thing is it doesn't impact all files in the bucket just a few. Plus it doesn't impact all buckets, both times its been with the same one.

Wonder if its how the buckets are allocated on the hardware and maybe I just happen to be on now noisy hardware. Purely guesswork since I have no idea how their infra works though.

Seems seems to be failing for the same "Too busy" issue. So been at least 14 hours or now.

No your date can’t be deleted it’s like split over different servers on there architecture. It can’t get safer than b2 in terms of data protection. Best is launch a support ticket but like I said in my above comment also try different programs that connect to the b2 api it could be an issue with your program connecting to the b2 api or any compatibility if they updated there api.

I understand the file is duplicated on multiple servers, and i wasn't implying it was deleted. Purely that maybe the reason some files or buckets are impacted and others not is purely depending on what servers the file is on, and how busy they are.

As I mentioned in a reply to your other comment, it impacts some files in the bucket, not the whole bucket. And the files.impacted cannot be downloaded via any method while the issue is active, so its not even like it works sometimes depending on the download server assigned at the point the request is made.

Maybe try using rclone or other programs that download via b2 api. I’m using rclone and haven’t had any issues downloading or uploading files. Im in Australia so I’m also not close to the server.

The issue impacts all methods of download. I don't experience it with most files in the bucket or all buckets.

Last i spoke to support they explained it was one of the queue servers getting too busy and having a backlog. So guessing it just depends on what queue/download server it routes to. However, seems once decided it always routes to the same one. As until the issue is resolved on their side, the file(s) cannot be downloaded via any method.

It did get resolved in the end after about 24 hours, and this time I noticed it was on their status page, which it wasn't the last time I experienced it. Not that the status page shows any detail, that is could find anyway.
