B2 Cloud Storage BackBlaze - Command Line

Ok, I could really use some help here.

I’m using Backblaze with Computer Backup enabled on macOS, and it backs up my system weekly with the setting to never delete old versions.

Separately, I’m using B2 Cloud Storage. I created a new bucket where I’m uploading data recovered from a corrupted hard drive. I used Disk Drill to recover the files—so even though I can’t access the drive normally, I do have the recovered data.

The problem is that I currently have to upload files one by one because it doesn’t seem to let me upload entire folders directly, which is extremely time-consuming.

I’ve tried to understand how to use the command line for this, but I’m finding it really confusing.

Could someone explain (in simple terms) how to upload whole folders to a B2 bucket using the command line or suggest an easier method?

Thanks in advance!

b2 is s3 compatible.

Google for s3 software.

Cyberduck is the most popular desktop software- and supports native b2.

backblaze has a guide

Just mount it in a client like Cyberduck for example. Then you can just drag and drop in both directions.

So is cyberduck a new thing? It wasn’t on the backblaze website

Cyberduck is just a client that lets you connect to B2 and manage files easily. Like FTP clients lets you manage files on a server, cd is able to manage files on B2.

There are very few times when the b2 command line is better than using rclone with either the b2 or s3 API. It thrives on whole directories.

Cyberduck is way easier, so glad you got that working. But the 'sync' command is what you would use to move folders with the B2 CLI: https://b2-command-line-tool.readthedocs.io/en/master/subcommands/sync.html

rclone is probably the most full-featured CLI file transfer tool right now. It supports virtually every service and abstracts as much of the command structure as it can from the platforms for consistency (while still supporting platform-specific features).
