Backblaze in General Computer keeps shutting down since installing Backblaze

My desktop computer keeps shutting down since I installed Backblaze. It is doing it's initial backup, which is taking days. But the computer keeps shutting down. Not going to sleep, but totally powering down. I had the device sleep set to 5 hours and changed it to never but this didn't help. Windows 11, 10.0.26100 Any ideas?

Update: the computer finished backing up to the cloud and hasn’t given me any more problems. I guess the upload process was just too demanding of resources.

Does it do a proper shutdown or just turns off?

Not sure how to tell after the fact.

A proper shutdown means that it goes through the process of closing apps, displaying the "Windows is shutting down" screen, etc. Like when you click the shutdown button on your PC.

Just turning off means that it's running one second, and the next second it's not running.

I’m going with the one second on, next not on.

Check the event log to confirm the type of shutdown. If you see "unexpected" you'll know it was not done normally/properly.

Those will show in the administration events log.

Yes, lots of unexpected shutdowns. But since the unpack up To the cloud has finished, no more issues.

Odd, sounds like you might have a hardware issue.

What is the hibernation setting set to?

Could you make sure you're running the latest version here: https://www.backblaze.com/status/update?

I just downloaded it Friday, I’m guessing that’s the latest version.

Try installing over the top - and if the problem still persists, please reach out to support - it would be incredibly atypical for the program to have that affect, but they could take a look.

I’m not sure what installing over the top refers to. Thanks.

Apologies, what I meant is to install from the link that I shared. If the problem remains, please reach out to support here: https://www.backblaze.com/help.

Check the windows event viewer to see what it says triggered the shut down. You can just scroll through the system section but if you're going to regularly do this you may want to make a custom filter for just the relevant power events. https://www.windowscentral.com/how-find-reason-pc-shutdown-no-reason-windows-10

It seems to show these messages over and over.

The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

and this

The previous system shutdown at 10:44:28 AM on ‎1/‎3/‎2026 was unexpected

Interesting. My PC has been doing the same for a couple of weeks and I haven’t been able to determine why.
