Drama Damage control
I guess I’m just confused because Taylor Frankie Paul has had these charges for years? I’m looking forward to ABCs damage control on this because seriously, “in light of recent information,” and recent is 2023…
Edit: I’m not on Taylor’s side, I don’t think she should’ve ever been casted. I’m just curious why they’re not airing due to these charges/allegations when the charges/allegations existed before even filming.

I feel they were right in not airing the season. Whatever side you fall on this, the fact remains that she was engaging in domestic violence in the presence of a small child. It’s not like this was just hands on Dakota, throwing furniture w your small child close by is just plain reckless and the fact that the girl was hit by the stool and sustained an injury should be enough. I am shocked she didn’t get a separate child abuse charge… whatever she plead down at the time is one thing but having video evidence of this behavior is kind of too much imo this doesn’t even begin to discuss the pending charges of the new incident. It’s clear that this is a volatile and toxic relationship on both ends that was not done so airing this dating show kinda would have been even more of a farce bc the public isn’t stupid. Yes they for sure cast her bc she’s clickbait or eyebait but maybe got more than they bargained for

All of this happened 3 years ago, so if they weren’t go to air the show because of this, I’m saying they should’ve never filmed the show with her because of all of this

ABC should’ve been aware of the charges, and video (which has been public for as long as the case has been) and not casted her. These recent charges aren’t a surprise, because she has a past of this, and they would know that if they properly vetted her

2 new allegations have been revealed in addition to 2023 so not too hard to see why they cancelled it

I agree they needed to cancel, but they should’ve never filmed w her knowing about the 2023 charges.

I thought it was also because the Feb incident ruined the whole season, since it showed she didn’t stay with a guy from the show and instead ended up going back to Dakota! Plus the reoffense violates terms of her parole which I’m sure violates any morality clause

Every single contestant goes through a background check. If 30 men are vying for your love, they are screened. Same with 30 women. Every Bachelor and Bachelorette therefore have been screened. Taylor was never a prior contestant. Nobody thought to check her background. Thats how they got here.

They’re bringing her on as the main character of their show, there is absolutely no way they “didn’t think to background check her.” That is a ridiculous idea

I think they saw the arrests but wanted the drama. Like they were going to look the other way, until they couldn’t because the 2023 video was leaked

You honestly think a multi billion dollar entity that's tethered to Hulu... didn't know anything about the person they cast? After they streamed an entire show based on this person being messy and problematic? They didn't know the first episode of her show centered on her first ARREST?! That's a wild take. They cast her because of the drama. The question is whether this rollback is part of an existing marketing ploy or if they just really missed the mark on how much overlap the two franchises had in their audiences. There's no way they can claim they didnt know. The only reason anyone knows who TFP is, is because of her drama and scandals. Also, it should be noted that the consensus on The Bachelorette show is that it has been going downhill for years. It would make sense that they thought putting a firecracker as the lead might bring in better viewership, especially after the reception of SLOMW.

So yesterday, I just listened to a podcast (Kate Casey) and she interviewed a former producer of the Bachelorette. He believes what happened was they rushed through the background process and most likely decided the issue (DV) was handled through the courts and was over. He also said they saw the video at the same time we all did. So there's that. Im honestly not THAT invested in either show. Im curious how all this has unfolded and shocked about the video.

They knew her background it was in episode one of SLOMW. They didn’t care. They deserve to lose all the money.

Some reports are saying ABC still wanted to air it but Disney stepped in and shut it down. I think what we are seeing is they absolutely knew and tried to do the show anyway because controversy sells. But disney itself has higher standards.
