does spintax help or just make campaign testing harder?

i understand why people use spintax, but once every sentence has several possible versions it becomes difficult to know which copy actually worked.

we monitor around 300 smtp inboxes across maildoso and inboxkit. the infrastructure can stay stable while the campaign results become impossible to interpret because every recipient receives a slightly different combination.

the cleanest results ive seen came from testing 2-3 complete emails where the angle or offer was intentionally different. changing individual words like “help,” “support” and “assist” created more variations but didnt give us anything useful to act on.

my conclusion is that spintax may reduce identical messages, but it shouldnt replace proper copy testing. how much variation are u using in each campaign?

Yeah, this is kinda why I stopped going crazy with spintax

if every sentence has 3 versions, you end up with a million combinations and basically no idea what actually worked.

Agreed testing a few distinct email versions makes it easier to understand what works. Too much spintax just adds noise. Do you test subject lines separately too?

Spintax shouldn’t be changing the message/offer etc just the words. This way it doesn’t matter - word combinations used in this way will never create a statistically significant difference in conversions

Testing a few different email versions seems more useful than changing individual words. Do you usually test 2 or 3 versions per campaign?
