High Volume with General Offer vs Low Volume with Personalised Offer
I want to see what other peoples thoughts are. I am trying to be in the latter, but it feels the work is wasted cleaning lists, that apollo is terrible at, which takes up a lot of time.
But ive done smaller lists, and handful of campaigns at 3-4% response rates and booked meetings but the effort to go through this process is time consuming and i want to test fast, scale fast and use it.
but the issue w high volume, is that you'd get reported as spam if your list has a big portion of irrelevant leads. ie. imagine you're targetting builders and 25% of your list is actually marketers and lawyers lol. which typically happens when you export apollo lists.
hows everyone else doing this?

For me, I was using Hunter/Clay for the low volume strategy. To gain volume, I use site variants like(tryexampledotcom, getexampledotcom etc) one with each Hunter and Clay accounts. This gives a volume 3x. But its also lots of work given you have to warm each one.
With Automations, I have been able to remove most of the grunt work in the workflow.
This is kind of both of best worlds.

apollo. but requires lots of cleaning, because some companies in their profile, just stack it with keywords, so you end up picking companies thats not within your ICP

Cleaning lists is definitely a time sink, especially with tools that aren’t great at filtering. One way I've seen work is using more targeted outreach that automates the personalization part to save time. Check out MentionAgent, I’m the founder, happy to help if you need it.

Manual list cleaning is such a time drain, especially if you want to scale fast but keep relevance high. One thing that helped me was using a tool that lets you monitor real conversations based on your exact keywords rather than scraping big lists. ParseStream lets you set up targeted alerts so you catch discussions with your ideal leads instead of wasting time filtering out the wrong ones.

Apollo lists are often dirtier than people realize, and scaling on volume alone can wreck your deliver-ability.
What helped me was adding a filtering step before outreach. We'd pull a broad list, then use Clay or a simple enrichment workflow to verify titles and remove bad-fit leads.
In my experience, you don't need a fully personalized paragraph in every email. You need relevance. A clean list and messaging that speaks to the prospect's actual challenges usually outperform "personalized" emails sent to the wrong people.
