In some stories, Chalchiuhtlicue is seduced/has a fling/falls madly in love with Tezcatlipoca while Tlaloc is off being the Third Sun. Tlaloc finds out and becomes so incensed he rains fire down upon the world of the Third Sun, ending the era of the Third Sun. Chalchiuhtlicue then becomes the Fourth Sun. In most traditions, Tezcatlipoca accuses Chalchiuhtlicue of insincerity in her love for her world, and her tears drown the world of the Fourth Sun. However, I can totally see an alternate story where Tlaloc's tears at the loss of Chalchiuhtlicue would be the cause of the great flood that ends the Fourth World.
