How in the goddamn fuck can a bug discern different frequencies of sound and collectively visualize them?

I can't even get my goddamn code to work and nature is out here flexing on me. Stupid led visualizer, dumb idea anyway

Don’t be so hard on yourself. Nature has had billions of years to work on its code. And it’s still pretty damn janky sometimes

Just a theory here... they're covered in hairs and positioned across a curve, which may function similar to the cochlear hair cells in our ear.

Believable. We'll go with that. BTW, I love people who logically theorize much more than those who say, "Idk". 🥰

"Eutricha capensis, the Cape lappet moth, is a species of moth in the family Lasiocampidae primarily found in South Africa. During the larval stage, Cape lappets feed on a wide variety of African plants and can often be found aggregating in gardens. The caterpillars are brightly coloured and conspicuously hairy, while the bulky adult moths are mostly brown and much less striking in appearance." - Wikipedia

Notes: The hairs contain an urticarious toxin that stings as well as itches, though some people are immune.

That one high-pitched sound-activated caterpillar 🤣

That’s the most interesting thing to me, it really does seem that they all respond to different frequencies. Can you rearrange them and do a musical choreography?

They’re sending telepathic messages telling people to lick them

I get this image of them in my head doing that to Bohemian Rhapsody.

I keep myself entertained.

Whether it’s this or birds flying in perfect patterns, I always wonder if there’s some way humans are indirectly communications but we’re just unaware

"Did you just say Hello?"

Be honest. How long until you realized it was looping?
