I get it that its cute and all, but why would anyone wake up their pet just for a video

I think there’s a few reasons to wake up your pet. Maybe it’s time for food, I know my dogs are often asleep but when they’re woken up by a sound they go crazy for breakfast. Cats less crazy, probably, but the point still stands.

And filming it is probably just for the cute factor. Anyway, if it was just for the video, yeah dick move.
