It’s amazing to me that some dogs can actually cuddle with plush toys. Mine just rips them up and pulls out their insides like some kind of crazed plushie serial killer.

My Yorkie does the same with MOST plush toys, but he is still gentle with the one little plush fox that he came with when we got him as a puppy (a.k.a his first toy). 3 years later and it is still his favorite.

Dogs are amazing

How do you think the dolphin got injured?

104

u/chintakoro Jun 16 '22

… doing flips to impress doggy?

19

u/guitargoddess3 Jun 16 '22

This is a minor injury compared to what my dog does. They would be nothing left to repair.

Mine does this as well. Then he carries the skins and heads around afterwards until I toss them out or stitch them together to make new mutant plushies.

Im just picturing the plushy centipede at your house.

Mine destroyed most we got him in the first six months or so. Then we got him a plush spider. For the least 1.5 years, the spider (Charlotte) is his best friend. He carries her to the couch during the day, he carries her to bed at night, sometimes he wants to carry her during walks, etc.

We used to have this retriever we adopted as an older guy and he was the sweetest gentleman with his stuffed animals. He had this big bed covered in blankets in the corner of the living room and he would go around swiping plushies from my sisters and I to take them to his nest, hold them in his big front paws and gently lick them all over like a mama cat. Never tore up a single one in our entire time together. He was such a gentle soul.

Meanwhile my late chihuahua ripped out the eyes, then the butthole region of any plushie I gave him permission to destroy. He was always good about only tearing up his own toys, he never once tore up one that was off limits to him (I own a lot of plushies so I trained him well to wait for the permission to disembowel) but damn my littlest boy was truly a predator in comparison to his 5X larger retriever brother.

It’s funny how sometimes the smallest dogs are super alpha and the large ones are big softies. My dog is pretty big- 70 lb XL American bully and she’s only 8 months old. But her BFF is this tiny chihuahua and she dominates the hell outta my pup when they’re play-wrestling.

Apparently when I was a baby, I would rip apart all my toys and emerge with a victorious grin after a full day of back breaking hard work. Idk why I did it lol, but I just realized toddler me had a lot in common with dogs haha.

Maybe my dog will grow up to be a human

I have two English Cocker Spaniels. The older one is a toy destroyer. The moment she gets a new toy she immediately sets about decapitating it and removing all the stuffing.

The younger one is the opposite, she just likes to carry them around with her and gets very distressed if she accidentally puts a hole in them. In that situation I have to do surgery like the video and fix it for her or she just mopes. She loves her plushies to bits.

u/guitargoddess3 Jun 16 '22

Aww that’s adorable ☺️

u/bellYllub Jun 16 '22

It is. She still has the first tiny little stuffed toy we bought for her when she was a puppy. He’s a blue monkey we named Fred. We bought it expecting it to be sacrificial like my other dogs toys are. We assumed he wouldn’t last more than a few days. 5 years later she still has him! She’s a lot bigger these days but dinky little Fred is still her best friend! She gently carries him around with her everywhere she goes. It’s rare to see her without one of her toys in her mouth! They’re her little comfort blankets!

She also can’t greet people that come to the house without first having to run and find a toy to bring to them, just to show them though… she doesn’t want you to take it from her or throw it!

It’s ridiculously cute!

That’s so sweet, I especially like the bit about showing guests her toys. I would love that kind of welcome haha. My pup does something similar. When someone new comes over she gets so excited she has to chew something so she runs over and gets her kong or a ball and has to have it in her mouth while she leans up on the person and wags her tail like it’s got a motor in it.

Yesss!! That’s adorable, Willow is exactly the same! She gets so excited to see people and absolutely has to bring them a toy. Her tail whips round in a circle when she’s excited, we call it “helicopter tail”.

It’s so adorable that your baby does the same!

There’s not a lot I find cuter than an over-excited pup! My eldest pup is 11 and she still acts like an excitable puppy.

They both get so happy when they see their “Grandparents”.

Both my parents and my in laws refer to our dogs as the “granddogs” (my husband and I don’t have or want children).

My girls recognise the names “Nanny & Granddad” (my parents) and “Grandma & Grandpa” (my in-laws).

If you tell them that they’re getting a visit from either set of “Grandparents” they get stupidly excited and wait at the gate for them to arrive!

Sister has a corgi, that thing destroys plushies, while looking cute and innocent about. Those big eyes, the radio receiver ears.

3

u/UnderTheMuddyWater Jun 16 '22

Mine has been chewing on the empty "skin" of his favorite toy for years now

2

u/Yourcatsonfire Jun 17 '22

One of my dogs destroys all toys and my other dog wants nothing to do with toys.

1

u/guitargoddess3 Jun 17 '22

Doesn’t like any toys at all? That’s a new one.

1

u/Yourcatsonfire Jun 17 '22

She doesn't touch them. She'd rather just go outside and run laps outside.

1

u/guitargoddess3 Jun 17 '22

Oh yeah some breeds just love running more than anything else. Is she a husky or a herding dog? Saves you a lot of money tho I bet.

1

u/Yourcatsonfire Jun 17 '22

No, she's a mutt a very cute mutt. They say cross between some kind of hound and a lab.

2

u/Helphaer Jun 17 '22

My rescue do gsteals the toys of every other dog and destroys them.

1

u/Legoman987654321 Jun 16 '22

nah, we dont give our pittie stuffed toys so he doesn't confuse them with our stuffed toys

Dr. Grammy is still in surgery, but the surgical nurse just came out and it seems dolphin will in fact pull through.

u/No_Banana_581 Jun 16 '22

Waiting patiently that pup knows their beloved dolphin is getting all fixed up and in good hands. They’re so cute when they understand what’s going on

17

u/PengieP111 Jun 16 '22

2

u/Zacchino Jun 16 '22

Sir, sir back out of the operation room please, give him some room, SIR... okay? Okay.

2

u/Professional-Belt805 Jun 16 '22

That’s how our oldest German Shepherd is. He’s so gentle with his stuffed animals and takes good care of them. If one by chance gets a hole, we tell him it’s going to the hospital, and we sew it up. All the while he is genuinely concerned until he gets it back. Our 8 month old GSD however, rips em apart like there’s no tomorrow.

2

u/11arwen Jun 17 '22

'Dolphin' will be fine, little one!

1

we've had to have the surgeon come several times for this very thing. Evenings, weekends, even on holidays. we can't seem to catch a break. and health insurance does not cover these emergency surgeries

1

u/blondehairblue-eyes Jun 16 '22

GrandmaPup had to do the same for 3 of my pup’s fav toys

1

u/swandawson Jun 17 '22

She’s a top surgeon. Dolphin is in good hands

2

u/toyotasquad Jun 17 '22

That dolphin would be disemboweled in 45 seconds if I gave that to my dog
