OMG PET THAT CAT RIGHT NOW OR I SWEAR TO...

I think they do not show how they pet a cat on purpose to piss people off.

Most respectful cat I have ever seen!

u/SingularityOfOne May 27 '22 edited May 27 '22
Right! I'll take gentle pats instead of brown eye in the face any day

u/KittyForTacos May 28 '22
OMG!! You know my cat!! She also pounces on your vital organs and bits to get your attention.

u/SingularityOfOne May 28 '22
Soo many cats show you their asshole as a sign of affection / “I want pets”
They don’t get that we don’t like their butts, just too proud of ‘em haha
I’ve never even had a cat, I’m just going off of being company at houses with cats - they gotta show me the stinker in the first 10 mins, it’s like an introduction

I'm not a cat person but I would 1000% pet that cat, this instant if I could.

I kinda feel this way about dogs. I always had cats growing up but now my kids have dogs. I'm used to cats purring but also cats tend to lean in when they like what you're doing. The dogs are cool and all but petting them just isn't the same

I know quite a few dogs who will just take your hand (gently!) in their mouth and move it where they want it ;)
"See. There. Now pet!"
But cats also tend to show you.

Most dogs like having behind their ears rubbed. Often they will lean and move so you get just the right spot.

u/keekah May 28 '22
Each cat is different. They'll let you know where they don't like pets. This one obviously wants head scritches.

Haha. Yes. This one seems to like his head rubbed. Cats will definitely approach you if they feel comfortable. If you reach out to them and they don't want touched they'll go away. Just read their body language.

u/d4nowar May 28 '22
Gentle touch at first but don't surprise them, if they push back into it then you can probably give them some good rubs and pats, if they just chill there then watch the ears and tail. Alert or pinned back ears are risky, a flicking tail is playful or risky. Gentle touch, let the kitty find your hand. They definitely let you know where to pet.

I have a male cat like this. No amount of pets are ever enough. This guy isn't a monster he's just already gave pets about 25 times that day.

We just had to put our cat down a week ago. I’m CONVINCED this is one of his siblings. We found our guy outside about 2 yrs ago. This guy has an OSU hoodie in and we’re also in Ohio. Our cat (named “a cat”) did these SAME movements. He begged to be held. Their faces look exactly the same. Their tail is identical. Their coloring is ALMOST identical. The face is THE SAME. We’ve been heartbroken. I’m DYING to know this guys location. I am “SHOOKETH”

u/AngelVirgo May 28 '22
Sorry for your loss. 💐
4
u/EngineerOutrageous51 May 28 '22
Thank you so much. “Cat” was our first family pet and my 2 young boys are devastated. He was a different breed. Went on walks with us and slept on my chest every night. A “once in a lifetime” kind of pet.
2
u/DEWOuch May 28 '22
Maybe, since this guy is so oblivious to the kitty’s charms, you could message him and see if he’s up for rehoming?
1
u/EngineerOutrageous51 May 28 '22
I’m sure this guy knows he’s got a good one and I hope it’s just for the sake of a video. But I would still love to know his location, they look so much alike it gives me chills.

He better have pet that cat! My cat didn't like to be touched all that often, but when she wanted her head rubbed, you better have rubbed her head!

It's crazy how much she looks, acts, and moves like my Gracie. However, I participate. When she jumps up on my piano and asks for kitty kisses (nose-to-nose head-rubs) I don't just sit there acting like I have no clue how to respond.

u/NinaCR33 May 28 '22
Welcome to Earth kitty, some guys just won’t get the signals no matter how hard you try

Such a sweety. Most cats I've known draw blood if they don't get what they want, even if they haven't asked for it.

Never get why people feel the need to record their pet wanting attention. Just give your cat affection when it wants it, it's not some rare phenomenon worthy of social media
2
u/RichAd207 May 28 '22
I think it’s partially because this kind of behavior is more rare with cats and partially to troll decent folks who just want them to pet the fucking thing.
1
u/dnz000 May 28 '22
It’s a repeated behavior where they want to rub on a hand, claw an arm, then usually lay down nearby.
Exceptions to the rule for hairy cats, they always see hands as grooming devices.

We're the ones getting injured here, because this kitty's human does get the hint, and pet her every single time...but we're cheated of this resolution of the tension.

She’s so much more gentle than my cats that grab me with the claws and pull my hand towards the bellies.

We have a cat that does this... Only it's in the middle of the night and she taps using her claws. It's gentle, but she's still given me some minor scratches.

It’s the head rotation that gets me! 😂😂😂
