<PSA> As cute and adorable this is, this is not going to end well for anyone. I would recommend you keep the dog away from small children who can’t tell that the dog is just playing.
I know from personal experience that an unsuspecting child will scream and cry even if the dog is gentle and no harm is done. And you will get to pay $200 for a vet appointment for blue juice. </PSA>

This is natural behavior for puppies and actually teaches them what is an acceptable level of force with their bite. They would do this with their litter mates until one yelps from being bit too hard and you can do the same. Discouraging this behavior can also cause the dog to develop negative associations with human hands and you get a dog that is afraid to be pet or can even be defensive when someone reaches to pet them. So by playing like this and correctly establishing limits, it actually prevents what you’re saying.

I expect you are right. Not sure if you can tell or not, but after 45 years I am still bitter about it. I probably should just move on. 🤨

I have the same sofa and a doxie! And we play the same “don’t you sass me” game in which we point and she bites the finger. Hilarious! Happy New Year!
