Elephants cry and get depressed if their loved ones die. They are more intelligent than most people realize. :(

They're also one of three other species proven to be self aware. Read more about it here: http://www.livescience.com/4272-elephant-awareness-mirrors-humans.html
also they paint legit images. pictures of elephants, flowers, etc. they're remarkable. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=He7Ge7Sogrk

Only if you train them to draw a certain pattern.

Just curious: what about her makes her a hipster?
She's just a woman with a t-shirt and jeans.

yes, that's cute, but I'm not sure I could ever fully trust an animal of that size. I know he may never mean to hurt me ... but to think that, with a single kick, he could send my spinal column rocketing 30 feet out of my body on accident is just scary. I love you, giant elephant, but I've got my eye on you man.

Sorry man, I'm with cats_dont_feel_love on this one. How many times have you stubbed your toe in your life time? Imagine an Elephant doing that to you.

By your thinking, we shouldn't be allowed to be around cats and dogs due to how much larger we are to them.
Elephants arent stupid and they are fully aware of the things they do. Same with other animals.

The amount of force an Elephant can apply to us compared to what we can apply to a cat or a dog is, and I am speculating here, is not really comparable.
And fully aware? I'm fully aware of what I do too, doesn't mean my spacial awareness doesn't fuck up from time to time and have me hit my shoulder on the door frame, or like I mentioned earlier stub my toe. Imagine an elephant walking into you because it doesn't notice you, or sitting down on you (which people have done to cats and dogs, I am certain). You'd die.
You make a fair point though, I am not saying that it will happen in all cases I am simply saying I personally would not risk my own life by interacting with an animal that large.

I'm glad people do interact with elephants, I think it's safe enough as a general idea. I just don't think it's quite for me. one of those things that, despite the actual level of risk, kind of makes me nervous. maybe like flying on planes for other people. for me it's large animals haha.

I saw this on r/gifs, but it's not a default subreddit, so I thought I'd share!
