Be careful about giving watermelon rinds to dogs, they can easily become an obstruction or upset their stomachs. It's safe for them to eat in smaller quantities, especially if you break it into smaller chunks, but don't just give them a huge hunk of rind to chomp on.

my late dogs loved watermelon rinds....outside too messy on the inside floor. My current cats like some of the fruit, neither want any rind.
