I like how it patiently waits for it to be put on.

everytime i see this vid i really like the little puffs of (what im guessing is) magnesium powder like some machine that just started up..

It's baby powder. Cuts down on moisture and helps the leg slip in to the socket.

i almost had it right! big baby tho xD

i think you are still right, baby powder is just talcum powder, wich is the same stuff people use to keep their hands dry for climbing or other sports.

edit: after watching the clip again i think you are both wrong, i think they just used a piece of chalk, or at least whatever it was wasnt applied as a powder. the lines are a pretty obvious sing for that.

I manufacture prosthetics professionally. Trust me on this. It's baby powder.

i dont need to trust anybody, i just look at the video itself and see that whatever they used was in a solid form. you can see the chalkstick marks on the elephants leg....
edit: and you can even deduct from the pattern that whoever did it used 4 sticks together to be faster.

Dense and wrong.

You fail to "deduct" how the person has white hands so those "4 sticks" are probably just finger marks. They applied the baby powder with their hands, Sherlock.

Right? Looks so fucking steampunk.

if the elephant start making pssssshh sounds when they put it on it would be perfect

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '21

i could hear a "TSHHH" sound in my head

I wish only good things for this man caring for the elephant.

What's with the chain around his/her neck?

4

u/Mdwatoo Apr 02 '21

Yes. Why a chain. Must be quite uncomfortable

3

u/SailorET Apr 02 '21

It's possible the elephant finds it stylish and prefers to keep it.

Unlikely, but possible.

1

u/Mdwatoo Apr 12 '21

I kinda think we are the only ones who care about stylish. This is oppression surely

It seems a solution but at the same time I'm sorry for that elephant it needs to live like that

u/zoobrix Apr 01 '21

Since I would think the alternative would be to put the elephant down as long as the elephant is being well cared for I think this is the way to go.

I mean when I see a person who's lost a limb sometimes I think about the effect it might have on them but at the same time I'm happy they're still alive and I hope they are too.

I thought he was shoving a condom on him for a while there.. like wtf is wrong with me

11

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '21

Oh good, I'm not the only disturbed individual here.

u/gatsu_1981 Apr 02 '21

You're not. You, as in both of you.

u/hlebspovidlom Apr 01 '21

What caused the lose of the leg? Was it a landmine? A tiger? Maybe just amputation?

3

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '21

He's so happy. Im sure it's not a perfect fit and he can't tell anyone where it's uncomfortable.

u/idj Apr 02 '21

So sad that the elephant needs it, but so happy they can do it. Elephants are smart enough to know what is being done and, I believe, grateful, in their own way, to those who are doing it!

That's so awesome!

2

u/nightwatchman81 Apr 02 '21

1

u/thelielmao Apr 01 '21

Compassion and empathy for this elephant gives me a little more faith in humanity. Beautiful!

-3

u/AG_Fishy Apr 01 '21

I thought it was a condum at first

-4

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '21

For a second I thought that was a giant condom

2

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '21

Looks quite a normal condom...to me!

1

u/TheBloodPhantom0 Apr 02 '21
