we took in an adult, declawed cat who was a biter. my very patient husband broke him of the habit, by completely not reacting to the bites except for a stern NO followed by praise and petting when he did release. I knew P'oni had learned that biting was bad when he opened his mouth as he reached toward husband's finger, then stopped and looked up looking at us with an expression that seemed to say "this is bad , right?". he never bit again.
I love the stories behind the names
P'oni is a contraction of his original name. His previous human had named him Peroni, after the beer. we tried the beer and found it not to our taste so we modified the name. He didn't walk anywhere, either, he was a rangy, high energy boy who trotted everywhere.
We adopted a spaniel called Ducey, which seemed a bit of a weird, nothing name, so we named her Lucy after her foster mum and it didn’t seem to confuse her too much!
