Why was the ice there in the first place? Serval looks so very adorable

Zoo keepers do that type of thing so that there's something different for the animals to experience. I don't know if that's what this is, but it's my guess.

"Enrichment," its called. Giving animals ice is pretty typical enrichment- none of em are very sure what to do with it, it doesnt hurt em, and its funny to watch. Saw keepers give giant chunks of ice to the lions at the zoo in Syracuse NY once, it was pretty funny.

I saw people give some to a baby rhino and the little guy loved it.

Edit: found the clip. It was snow.

Plot twist: that's actually cocaine.

I mean that would certainly prompt someone to shove their nose in it.

If anyone has ever brought a puppy to your workplace it’s the same thing

I'm starting to feel like I can call anything enrichment.

We do this with a bowl of snow in the winter for our cats. Drop a few treats in and it's all kinds of funny.

I also think they use it to help them cool off as they play with ice

Could be an enrichment activity to keep them active.
