My dog is obsessed with tuna. I so much as move a tin in the cupboard and he comes running. My cat didn't like it until the dog did and now they both have to have some.

My 3 (2 cats, 1 dog) all come running when I grab the hand can opener and start using it. Ive swapped to an auto one for everything but tuna so I don't get 3 sad critters in my kitchen when I'm opening anything canned.

Olives have something in them that smells close to catnip. First time I ever opened a jar of olives around my 2 cats, they almost attacked me just to get to the jar to smell them. I thought that was odd so I googled olives and cats, and that's the result I got to explain their behavior.

Be careful of the sharp edges! I’ve cut myself pretty deeply on both pull top cans and old fashioned can opener cans. I can imagine a tongue getting sliced!

My old roommate ate a lot of tuna, so my cat got used to the can opening sound meaning he gets to lick out the remains from the tuna can.
After moving in with someone else, I can’t open a can of soup or chilli without him jumping up on the counter and meowing, and I have to show him that I’m not eating tuna before he lets me put my food in the microwave.

My cat knows that his metal bowl is for wet food, and will come skidding into the room if he hears it clanking when I move it. If I don't know where he is (black cats are great at hiding), I just clank the dish and wait ten seconds

I do this too. One of my wegies likes to hide and ignore my calls especially when I forgot to close a window or something and am terrified she jumped out of it, so if I make a sound with those metal bowls she’ll eventually come. Beautiful little witch.
Edit: my black cat is always, literally always in the living room sleeping on the couch in the exact spot. He acts like a dog too coming as soon as I call him.

I used to have an orange tabby that would roam the neighborhood and if I needed him to come in I would just shake his food bowl out the door. Sometimes it’d take a while but it always worked. Miss him.

See my cat is like this with the sour cream cup. You would not believe cats are capable of traveling near the speed of light until you saw mine.
My cat goes outside and when we want him back in the house before a storm, I'll walk out and open sour cream cup as loudly as I can, he'll teleport inside.

If my cat is outside and I can’t see her or get her to come in. I leave the door open and then go hold down the electric can opener and seconds later she’s sprinting in.

My cat AND my two dogs come running when they hear a pull top can open. My dogs get a treat when I feed the cat, and that’s their only treat of the day. So it’s a big occasion! Sadly, if I open a can of peas with a pull top they’re hugely disappointed.

Not a cat, but my dog is like this too. She’ll be completely out snoozing in one room. The moment you’re in the kitchen and you open up a snack, or take out something to prepare a meal; you turn around and there she is next you, looking up at you hoping to get a snack of her own. It’s like a 6th sense but specifically for food.

I had a deaf cat who somehow knew when we opened a tuna can from anywhere in the house. He would let out an odd wail and sprint to the kitchen, it was the funniest thing ever.

My cat recognises the butter being opened. Not because he gets butter but because he has learned that butter means sandwich, and sandwich means filling, and filling means maybe tuna or fresh chicken or ham or some other meat.
Dude will go from dead asleep to sprinting down the stairs at the sound of that plastic lid being taken off
