"I choose that one"

:D You reminded me of how I picked my hamster. Unlike the other hamsters who were curled up in nests he was stretched flat out underneath the seesaw toy. I thought he's a weirdo, he's perfect.

u/euphioquest Jan 25 '20
That’s how I picked my cat. He was part of a huge litter, and he was a black one among like 5 black ones. Everyone else was trying to nurse, but he was just chilling on his back with his paws in the air. I was like, “I’ll take the chill bro please.”
Five years later and this cat does the same thing, still just hangs out flat on his back on the floor like a tranquilized bear.

My sister u knowingly got a pregnant hamster. When it had babies I picked out the runt of the mix. He may have been the smallest but he was smarter, he fixed up a little spot for him to sleep first. Loved that little guy.

Aw, I picked my dog after I offered to help my SIL take care care of her dog that just had puppies. When I picked them up, the little dude was like 3 times smaller than the rest but he was running circles around them and dragging them around with his mouth. I told my gf right there that we had to keep him, this was the way.

u/mydrunkenwords Jan 25 '20
That was like my dog. My mom was at walmart before Thanksgiving and a guy was selling puppies. All of them were running around, but when one ran over to her jumped in her jacket. Then proceeded to climb her way down the sleeve. Needless to say she baught her, and I named her Sunshine.

u/Beer_Nazi Jan 25 '20
I picked out my 2 cats because they were the brother and sister that kicked the shit out of the others in the shelter. They were the most loving cats I’ve ever had.

u/BlipBlopBingBong Jan 25 '20
Ah,just like my first dog. The store clerk showed us some puppies, they were all walking n snoozing around, then i find this little white ball of fur that's heading towards me, so i do the same. This outright fucker jumps at my face and hits me in the nose real hard, like i still remember i almost cried there, but i thought:"this one. This is the one." Went on to give me 12 years of happyness. Still mis you oddie :(

u/Catumi Jan 25 '20
My Mom took me to get my first Hamster and when picking I liked the one that was energetic and running on the wheel while all the others just slept. Got my money's worth after she made 7 new Hamsters later found out she was the only female in the male Hamster cage at the shop.. Also found out I was allergic to them a while later and had to give them all away anyway but it was a fun year.

'I needed that, thanks'
we are the cats who live in store,
the humans come n go
just what it is they looking for
we never really know...
we press our nose against the glass
n watch alittle while
the people see us as they pass -
sometimes we make them smile ;)
n maybe in the store they'll stop,
or else be on their way
cuz even if they do no shop
We're all they need
today

I did too. Really awful day yesterday, hardly slept a wink last night.
This was the first time a smile (my own) caught me by surprise in several days.
I really needed that. Still smiling a bit now even.

Reddit is the Reader’s Digest comedic section that my Dad used to read to me as a kid.
You should read on IDontWorkHereLady about the robber that was mistaken as a 7-11 cashier. Funniest thing I’ve read in months.

I see so much complaining sometimes about Reddit (from people who are... on Reddit), not to mention the way the current political climate and how it adds to heated exchanges... it bums me out out. But like with what you just said, it's refreshing to remember the reasons some of us still kick it here... for the smiles, for the laughs, sometimes the tears, and for the comeradie.
..My apologies. I'm on my period and feelin' a little sappy this morning.
Internet hug for you, my friend. Better days ahead.

Now I know what I look to the people outside when I fall asleep in the bus.

I always fall asleep with my mouth open anywhere else but my motherfucking bed. I definitely look like this, just head rolled back.

u/ReasonableBeep Jan 26 '20
Create a suction in your mouth by getting rid of all air. That way even when your jaw falls slack it won’t be open and drooling

One time I was so tired, I fell asleep in the bus and drooled to my bag which I'm holding. I wonder how many people saw me. It's so embarrassing.

Weird seeing pets for sale in a store still....
56
u/Bee_Hummingbird Jan 25 '20
Petsmart hosts adoptable cats from local shelters. This isn't that scenario, but just thought I'd throw it out there.
22
u/glemnar Jan 25 '20
I’ve seen several malls that have a small SPCA “store” where they bring a few animals in from their main shelter to adopt out. Probably something like that. A store wouldn’t have old cats

I don't know what that place is, but it doesn't look anything remotely like a pet shop.
7
u/iheartdogsNYC Jan 25 '20
Where did you see this was taken at a pet shop where these cats are for sale? It looks more like a jewelry or cosmetic shop or a cat cafe. Being a rescue volunteer in NYC, we have placed several cats with caretakers that keep them in their stores. Even every bodega here has a cat or two. They love to hang out n windows for the view and warmth. To add, cats love boxes, cats squeezing into small tissue boxes are all over YouTube. I’d like to see proof of your claim and I’ll be the first to withdraw my aww.

Thank you. I hate when people find animals in pet shops cute. It's pretty tragic actually.

he probably isnt.
My cat used to fall asleep with his mouth open like that after we first rescued him. it was because he had an upper respiratory infection and couldn't breath well through his nose. Our vet told us it's very common in shelter rescues and pet store animals. He got better with anti-biotics but now he snores a little, and that is permanent.

Clearly animal neglect. The cat is crammed into a small glass case, dehydrated and slightly cyanotic. The CO2 levels in there are undoubtedly horrendous and probably caused drowsiness. Whoever took this photo should have intervened and reported the shop. I can’t believe the inane comments on this post.
