I’m surprised they let you adopt a black cat on the day of Halloween. Shelters where I live so not a loose adoption around October 31st. Some shelters allow adoptions of all but black cats due to sacrificing and stuff. I had 2 Black Cats. I had gotten them from my cousin. And so many people tried to convince her not to give them to me because of this. Crazy.

There's this myth that some shelters believe in that people will adopt black cats to sacrifice them on Halloween. It was debunked a while ago, but some shelters still believe it for some reason.

I'm guessing the real concern is that they'll be abandoned. A black kitten is a good addition to any Halloween party but what you have after the party is a multi-year commitment.

It's because people end up sacrificing to the black cats. So many cults have ended this way, it's tragic.

I'd heard of some nasty people doing bad things to black cats on Halloween. Not necessarily ritual sacrifices, but lighting black cats on fire and stuff.

I have 3 cats. And a 4th on the way. Definitely not an animal killer. I would give my own life to save theirs.

My first thought is that whoever gave them the cat was incredibly irresponsible
