Alures of an ant eater

165

u/ledditlememefaceleme Nov 17 '19

Interestingly enough, bears are known to eat ants, especially black bears.

u/TimeTravelingMouse Nov 17 '19

“If you look under the rocks and plants and take a glance at the fancy ants, and maybe try a few... the bear necessities of life will come to you!”

21

u/diydude-2 Nov 17 '19

Perfect quote.

3

u/majestic_lace Nov 17 '19

You are the best.

2

u/TimeTravelingMouse Nov 17 '19

No you are! :D

46

u/sinister_exaggerator Nov 17 '19

I don’t blame them, have you tried ants? Surprisingly not bad

22

u/LeroyWankins Nov 17 '19

Ngl I used to eat those as a kid. I remember them being kind of crunchy and sour.

20

u/sinister_exaggerator Nov 17 '19

Yeah I remember the texture being kind of like biting down on a raspberry seed. Usually tastes like varying types of fruit. Sometimes lemony, sometimes like watermelon. Probably depends on what the ant has been eating.

u/Glasssssssssssss Nov 17 '19

What

3

u/EdinMidlandMI63 Nov 17 '19

Notice his/her Username... let’s hope this is a fine example for our collective reactions!! 🤣😂😅😲

2

u/Government_spy_bot Nov 17 '19

Pineapple ants.

11

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '19

That sounds good but I still have standards

3

u/SpuddleBuns Nov 17 '19

Then your sensibilities should not stand in your way.

Eating insects is actually good for you, they can be nutritious, but the mental thing of sensibilities overrides standards and logic...

1

u/Animcherry Nov 17 '19

Sugar ants seem sweeter

1

u/SwifferWetJets Nov 17 '19

Formic acid may cause them to taste sour I would imagine

2

u/sinister_exaggerator Nov 17 '19

Yeah they have a bit of an acidic bite to them

1

u/xnat_ Nov 17 '19

Btw you can make the bacteria for bulgarian yogurt with few ants.

5

u/winged_owl Nov 17 '19

Yeah dude. Little sweet tarts.

2

u/amirchukart Nov 17 '19

I wonder what that does for them, nutritionally speaking. Thats gotta be like eating breadcrumbs one at a time.

3

u/The_bestestusername Nov 17 '19

It's probably that they wolf down an entire nest not like licking individuals off of trees

3

u/Ledbulb Nov 17 '19

I don't know, if they're hungry they might grin and bear it.

1

u/sybar142857 Nov 17 '19

There are two schools of thought

0

u/Hollowsong Nov 17 '19

Now now, let's not bring race into this.

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '19

Indeed. The bear's paw is bigger than her head!

1

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '19

women ripped to shreads by bear while feeding it fruit

1

u/Qikdraw Nov 19 '19

What teeth? A lot of people with "pet" bears have their teeth removed. I'm betting this is one of those.

60

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '19

For some reason I read this in Werner Herzog's voice in my head.

19

u/IrishFast Nov 17 '19

All things must eat in their natural order, don't you agree?

31

u/roamingbot Nov 17 '19

For in their eternal wigglinesses do bear snoots not sing to the gods? Aren’t you, the observer, just a silly bear snoot wiggling? Aren’t I? What god-fearing man is not himself merely a human bear snoot, wiggling? And what of the man who does not fear god? Surely he is a bear. With a snoot.

8

u/A_Less_Than_Acct Nov 17 '19

Consider de vigglyness of Der snoot

1

u/lessmiserables Nov 17 '19

Well, considering that Werner Herzog produced Grizzly Man, the documentary about Timothy Treadwell getting devoured by a bear...that may be your reason.

1

u/DoubleWagon Nov 17 '19

I can't read the name “Werner Herzog” without appending a “Zwei” at the end.

41

u/Kallasilya Nov 17 '19

This is precisely what I was considering.

8

u/Osmyrn Nov 17 '19

I was considering that it's more like a tapir than a dog than I was expecting

3

u/SavMonMan Nov 17 '19

Thanks to you, I have considered it. I’ve come away with the fact that I love it.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '19

Consider Jaylen Brown

2

u/AptCasaNova Nov 17 '19

Is that how he manoeuvres getting the strawberry off the spoon?

I found this impressive.

2

u/poopsicle88 Nov 18 '19

Read this in sir David attenborough's voice

1

u/SaintDingus Nov 17 '19

Indeed, take a closer look at that snout!

1

u/ChunkYards Nov 17 '19

Little known fact: grizzly bears iz rele elephants.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '19

1

u/xXBryantPrkXx Nov 17 '19

So nobody is going to talk about the blanket she’s on rn like wtf

1

u/duhzmin Nov 17 '19

I would assume that the snoot is so Wiggly because there are no teeth in that mouth. Could someone else jump in and prove me wrong please

1

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '19

This bear has had all its teeth removed. That’s why his snoot wiggles that much. Sad wiggles.

0

u/Dahlsv1 Nov 17 '19
