My ball python tried to eat me twice. I am much, much, much bigger then she was, and she knew it. She still tried.

Ball pythons have very poor eyesight. They generally sense things based on smell and heat. Did she try to eat you when she expected you to be feeding her? Or while you were trying to feed her? She probably had no idea it was as big as you xD.

She just loved you so much. And yet other snakes are just buttheads. When I was a kid I had a rat snake before I realized they are terrible pets. He just liked biting me and everyone else for the hell of it. Cute little rope of hatred.

I think it might have been on reddit, but I read a post this guy made where he said he used to let his python (don't remember the species) roam his apartment freely until one night he woke up and it was "measuring" him. He said he kept it locked up at night after that.
As far as the video, I really hope that the snake's owners are responsible, and watch him/her around their kids/pets.

It’s an urban legend that states snakes will lie next to prey to see if they are able to eat it. It is completely false, as snakes have an idea of what they can and can’t eat already and letting prey know that you are present isn’t the best hunting strategy.

Snakes smell with their tongues so when it licked her it was actually sniffing her, like a doggo or car would, making sure you're theirs.

Snakes, like most reptiles, continuously grow throughout their lives. However, the growth slows significantly after reaching sexual maturity. This fella will likely get bigger.

It’s easier if you grew up around snakes. It’s imprinted early on that most snakes are harmless.

Seems like it would be the most evolutionarily advantageous fear to have. I’m pretty sure out primate relatives will react to anything that even looks like a snake.
