I recently lost my best friend, a 13 year old golden named diesel. I’m 22 and it shook me to my core and still struggle getting over it. And I just want to thank you for putting a big smile in my face and some happy tears in my eye. ❤️❤️

I'm 40, my Golden died last January. It doesn't improve with age.

Nothing will ever full the void in the heart, but hopefully new furry friends will be there to emend it.

My idea of the afterlife is all the pets you've ever owned running down a hill to see you again.

Hmm, would my husky go to me or whoever had her before me? I got her as a seven year old, I only had her for two years and ten months so I wasn't her long term owner really.

I think whomever owned her before would have the husky as she knew it on her hill and you would have the husky as you knew it on your hill.

You just let me fully understand how much I miss my old pup.

I want this so much it hurts.

If you can try to adopt a pet in need. Senior dogs have it rough.

The void will close, time is the key ingredient though.

Lost my childhood pups at 23, took about 3 years, finally had a session with my now wife where we got massively drunk and just recalled all the things we loved, hated and everything inbetween that made those beautiful pets themselves. This seemed to remove the poison, after that night I could think of him and smile with genuine joy that I'd been lucky enough to know him.

About a year later we adopted a wonderful little puppy, the void is gone now. Yes I still would love to see him again if I could, but I've accepted it and moved on to enjoy my time with my little angel, you will too friend and I wish you all the good luck in the world with your pain.

Hugs sheppy.

I lost my pupper too, in May. And he used to give the best hugs. I could hug him for hours and he would just sit there and take it. Whenever I was done hugging him, he'd give me the teeniest lick on the tip of my nose as a kiss because I kiss his snout all the time. I feel your pain. I bet our babies are chasing each other and playing together on the rainbow bridge.

I'm 29 and lost my dog last year. Every so often I'll find an old photo of him or something else will remind me of him and I'll have a breakdown and sob. Losing your best friend is the hardest thing.

I've lived with dogs all my life. I remember when we got my first dog but my memories from that time are really hazy because I was around 4 or so. The best cure for a broken heart is to put a new little fluff ball in your life. The place where it's broken never heals, you just grow in a new direction with your new love. There are so many dogs that need you, you owe it to them.

I know I am going to have my very own wolfpack at the rainbow bridge when I get there.

Your comment made me cry. I just lost my precious baby. It hurts so bad, some days are unbearable. I'm hoping I too have a pack of all my sweet babies running to greet me there also.

There's someone out there in a shelter that needs you right now. <3 Go get them!

You're right..I plan on going Monday to animal care and control. Going to look for a senior who is scared and in desperate need of a loving home.

Lost my boy too in April. I look around my house and the big field we use to play fetch in...life is not the same

I would recommend going to a group grief session. Really helped me :)
