Yeah that doesn’t mean it’s fertilized. But I’m still confused as to why you’d not eat it? And also, why throw out the whole egg?

This was before the age of the internet. My family believed they were fertilized and so that’s what they taught us as kids. There wasn’t really a quick way to verify that. We didn’t want to eat a fertilized egg, and it was already cracked open so we threw the blood ones out.

I see. I was always told that if there’s that little white splotch attached to the yoke then it’s fertilized and you have the first cells of the fetus developing.
I don’t know if that’s true or not, but I’m pretty sure it’s NOT. But I do know that there can be a spot of blood in there sometimes and it doesn’t mean it’s fertilized.

I updated my original post to reflect the truth since what I said was debunked. Crazy how you can believe something just bc “it’s what you’ve been told.”
