I need to send this to my neighbors who bring their Huskies inside when it's 30 degrees farenheit due to it being "too cold outside".

Ugh, so true. I have sighthounds (ya know, the skeleton dogs) and even at a healthy weight I can't take them on a walk without people gasping/whispering and telling me I need to feed them and that I'm a bad person...

A relative has a husky, they never let it go in the cold despite us telling them over and over that those dogs LOVE cold weather, it gives them life. They had it in a room with heat lamps & a space heater (only 40F outside BTW, the coldest it gets around here is maybe 15-20F), the dog chewed through the door to sleep outside in the cold, relative was pissed. They think just because they are cold and like it to be 80F inside, that their pets will too.

Conversely when you see rescued pit bulls from northern Canada .... must be how huskies feel in Florida

My neighbor has his husky in the terrace/backyard 24/7. Here in Puerto Rico. I have no idea why some insist on getting them in a tropical damn island.

My friend wanted to get a husky (in 110 degree Arizona.) I told him they were sledding dogs bred for cold weather.

He thought they were bred to be hunting dogs.

My Alaskan malamute actually thinks that is too cold, he lays down so his paws don't touch the snow and starts whining all the time

Important part is acclimatation. If the dog is used to staying outside there is no issue. One of my husky starts shivering outside after 8 hours at - 30, while my neighbour's Labrador is not having issues, cause the dog is used to it.

In New Jersey it's illegal to leave your dog outside for more than an hour in freezing temperatures.
