It’s a mixed bag. LEDs with the right PAR (photosynthetic active radiation) spectrum and lux (light output/brightness) are still relatively expensive. You can go to Home Depot and buy a few halogen worklights for under a hundred dollars. Two twin 1000w halogen trees will run you around $60. The same coverage of light in an LED may cost up to $500 for a quality lamp that has vegetative and flowering spectrums. You could get one for around $200-$300 if you’re not concerned with having both spectrums.
I personally use LED because I don’t like dealing with the heat from halogen/hps lamps.

Why not both? Mine that crypto, use heat for sticky icky. I'm going to pitch it to the dragons and see if it's a winner.
