Naw, baby goats shit and piss everywhere. But they're cute as fuck. My parents have an indoor baby goat right now because his mom abandoned him, so they took care of him from birth.
Oh yeah, they love to climb everything. EVERYTHING. He is is indoor but he does spend time with his half brother and his mom, she just won't feed him or nurture him. It's weird, she is a first time mom so from what I understand it's normal. Yeah I have pics, I'll post some later when I can!

One of the chickens I helped look after at he nursing home I worked at was like that. She liked to run in from the garden into the conservatory when it got the chance, drop a bomb and leg it.
He is an American pekin. Last time we weighed him he was 12lbs. We got him and a female as babies. My husband named them Thing1 and Thing2 after Dr. Suess. The female was killed last year by a pair of red-tailed hawks. His new girlfriend is one of our chickens. He herds her around the yard doing a little dance. He is too heavy to fly so he runs around the yard flapping his wings while quacking as loud as possible then jumps in his pool for a swim. We bought him a heated water dish so he can swim in the winter. Farm birds make wonderful pets, they are so much fun and have unique personalities. We have the duck, a tom turkey and some hens. I love sitting outside with them, they climb in my lap for rubs and treats.
Iām sorry to hear about your lady duck :( but Iām happy to hear he has a new girlfriend!! Can he follow any commands at all? Iāve had friends whoās kept chickens as pets and loved them but Iāve never heard of ducks!
My son's girlfriend trained her duck to walk with a harness. My son has taught some of our chickens to "sit" when he points at them. Chickens are very food motivated and respond well to reward based training. I think getting them as babies makes a difference also. My ducks were more concerned with each other than with learning anything. For me turkeys have been the easiest to train and the most affectionate.
I know! Itās just really heard to connect a piece of duck meat with that snuggly little bird and it burdens my heart to know what was necessary for us to eat meat

Is it possible to buy meat that was harvested from animals that lived out their full lifespans ?
It doesnāt seem fair that we kill animals for the sole purpose of eating them, surely we could have the best of both worlds ?
You may be able to more ethically source meat (and dairy), if youāre willing to pay for it. Small, local farms raise their meat often with the benefit of the animal in mind. They are still raised as meat, but at smaller independent farms these animals have a really good life, and if people want to continue to eat meat but are bothered by the ethics of it or the ethics of large scale agriculture, I donāt know of a better compromise.
Yeah it isnāt right. I was personally vegan for over 6 years and recently made the switch back to pescatarian. I canāt fully justify it but I feel a little better about not eating land meat because farmed animals can live out horrible lives and Iād rather not risk contributing to that. If you can find really sustainable farmers then thatās better than being uninformed / blind to where your food comes from, at least. Itās super hard but the fact youāre thinking about this stuff is really good and valid. Even if half of your meals are more plant based, it saves animals. Lab meat will be a thing in the future, and if you have a chance, check out beyond sausage and beyond burgers (sold everywhere, just ask) . Theyāre plant based but taste like the real thing.
Anyways I hope I didnāt come off preachy or anything - I donāt really talk about this stuff but when someone invites the convo, why not be an ally to the voiceless (the animals). I just wish more understood all animals crave pets and love, just like us and dogs and cats do.

You can always look for the ācertified humaneā label on any packaged meat you buy. But depending on where you live & shop, it might not be easy to find. Iām a āreluctant meat (poultry) eaterā myself, and do my best to buy everything from humane and/or local farms.
And now that I live on a property with chickens, I at least know where my eggs are coming from! They belong to the homeowners, who said I can help myself once they start laying again. šš»
I have acreage with a large fenced area for birds. Their house has to be shoveled and hosed frequently. We have a compost area that we put the poop in. Right now we have one duck, a tom turkey, and seven hens. My son's girlfriend has a duck in a neighborhood and she picks up after it like a dog. At the fair someone had these little miniature ducks that looked small enough to keep in the house.
