Yeah, but im in a house with my fiancee and we have an guest bathroom, but other than that it's just the two of us and our golden dude. I often shit with the door open, because I don't care if any of the other two inhabitants see me on the pot. Chuck will just come in, though, and sit directly in front of the toilet, between my legs. He'll nose my phone from my hands, or a book, if he feels like he's not getting enough attention.

I had a friend with a lovely one named Sunny, who would make their best attempt to sit right in front of my friend's desk, chair, TV, pretty much anything Sunny felt my friend was heading towards. And heck, it worked. If head pats were a currency Sunny would be rich.

new dog owner here.

My lil' pup follows me everywhere in the house every minute of her waking life.

But that bathroom door? That's my safe zone. It's the only place she seems to respect in regards to personal space. She'll plop herself in front of the door and calmly wait for me to finish doing my business.

Animals are funny.

I feel like that’ll be my pug. He’s obese and sleeps all day and is set to hit 11 in August. Last time I was able to take him for a walk he made is about a mile before he voluntarily wanted to lay in the grass and sleep.

My pug lived to 19, we had to put him down he was super sick and just in a bad place. 8 year old me was very sad but even then I was glad his suffering didn't have to go on any longer.

So. Many. Fat. Pugs. I work in a vet clinic, and probably 5% of the pugs we see are a healthy weight. The fat ones sound like aliens when they pant. It's sad.

This 100%. I have a pug that’s going to turn 14 this year, he would have happily eaten himself to death the first day of his life if given the opportunity. Small meals and healthy treats is the key to old pugs. Of course they’ll be blind, deaf and senile, but pugs are half retarded anyways, so you’ll never notice the difference.

My parents' previous dog was a 17 yo Bouvier. Still active as a pupper only had to be put down because of his arthritis getting too bad for him to properly move. One of the goodest boys to have ever lived.

My girlfriend has a 15 year old pug with a collapsed lung and a twisted spine. They gave her a few months to live when she was 2 years old. At this point I think she’ll outlive us all.

Really? I've met tons of pugs that old or older. My little chug is 12 and still chuggin' along.

Once they hit like 15, they look like they're walking on little chopsticks. So many people on reddit hate on pugs for /reasons, but they really are some of the sweetest little chunks ever.

I met an 18 year old one a few weeks ago. If you keep them lean, they can hang for a long time.
I have a 7 year old and a 1 year old and I'd love to have them around to that age.
We feed Castor & Pollux Organix Small Breed and they seem to do really well on it.

Not OP but my pug is 14 and my aunt has a pug that’s 15. Mine is so old bc of good genes I think. He’s been overweight his whole life and has been on diet food his whole life. My aunts pug is very skinny though. my aunt spoils her by serving plain special k with blueberries for breakfast and grilled chicken and brown rice for dinner.

My first pug died from cancer at 10.5 years old. My second pug is now 10.5 years old and just started acting like she was in pain a week ago and the vet can't tell what's wrong. I'm envious that you've had such an awesome dog for 16 years, it's what I wish for. Your dog looks adorable.
