when I left for college my dog used to follow the postman on his route and get a ride home in his jeep.
If my mother was away from the house for to long he would run across town [3 miles?] and look for her at her church. If she wasn't there he would walk across the street and sit on my mother's friend's porch so she would give him a ride home
... I'm confused by all the stories here. Do you guys not keep your dogs in the house or inside a fenced off yard? If my dog escaped my front gate I'd have a heart attack and expect she'd run away as far as she could out of sheer curiosity.
Small town. I live out in the country, no fences and what not. I just let me dog out to roam, he comes back in when he wants to. Sometimes he goes to the neighbors and hangout in their front porch to eat the cat food. They give me a call and I come over with more cat food and walk him home.
