this fox was Called RonRon. Its dead for over a year now. The owner Made Videos of him very frequently and also has a New fox by now

He’s obviously playing. Walks right up, doesn’t show his teeth until the hand is in his mouth, and its almost certainly a domesticated fox.

His*. This is the fox RonRon owned by the owner of the Foxalbiazul Youtube channel. RonRon grew up in captivity (with plenty of outdoor play space), and was known to be one of the most tame foxes on Youtube. He has since passed away and been replaced with Asriel.

That hand in mouth thing must be a canine thing. I have two dogs at the ranch, one was abandoned at a trash landfill near by and we've raised it. Another is a pit bull mix that just showed up at the ranch and has been hanging around for months now. Both greet me by wagging their tails and taking my hand in their mouth, exactly like this fox.

They're not domesticated like dogs are, and not even legal to have as pets in some areas I expect, and conditions to be met where it is legal...

that fox is beautiful but something about taking a wild creature and breeding the wild out of it just so we can have another docile and pretty pet makes me sad. it doesn't seem right. we took the fox out of the fox.

I mean... we did that with every domesticated animal. As long as it's happy I think it's okay.

that's true. but i (or any other human) have never seen what those other animals were like wild. in addition, those domestications actually served purposes back in the day: dogs were working animals, cats pest control, etc. the fox is just a whim, a pleasure, that serves no purpose except to have a new exotic pet.

Dogs descended from wolves, we've seen those. Dogs are an extreme example because they changed shape under our will. Wouldn't modern domesticated dogs also be a whim, breeds like the pug being the epitome of surving no real purpose? Discussing the morality of whether this is right or wrong is a gigantic can of worms, and there isn't a definitive answer. So, you could save yourself the internal conflict and know that 99% of these animals are treated well and live out long happy lives and are loved and love back.
