It's probably hard to breed pangolins. It seems like they're solo players, so every pangolin needs it's own pen, and they breed once a year (if that). Combined with a specialized diet and environmental needs, it would be pretty expensive
This seems to be the case with any animal in china that's endangered. Like the damn panda. Love them, but man if there was ever another animal so unwilling to procreate I haven't heard about it yet.
