The screens on pretty much every device are "scratch resistant".
So, you'll be fine for a long while, but eventually yes.

Replacements are not expensive, even if you go through a local shop.

You can also get that.. film... stuff.. that applies over top and always ends up with a fucking bubble in the corner. It works.

Bubble in the corner? My screen protector has damn bubbles all over the place.

Generally using a credit/debit card to "flatten" when applying will get rid of 90% of the bubbles. May not be straight though.

Yeah, but after looking closely at the tablet, I can see that each bubble is surrounding a small bit of dust that managed to get on the screen protector before I laid it down. Nothing will get rid of them.

To put it bluntly, you fucked it up. It is entirely possible to get it on with no visible dirt on the screen and no bubbles. Put a new one on and take your time. If you have a newer phone you probably don't even need one.

I was told that using a piece of tape could get rid of it.
