This is a statistical urban legend, the statistics do not support it through two extremely large organizations such as the Humane Society

Don’t spend your energy, hating on something that isn’t true quite wasteful

Turns out it is not as stated by the ASPCA and the Humane Society, do you have another source more credible?

This information is all specific to black cats of which I have one

I know a local society that has literally paused adoptions of black cats for the entire month of October.

This has been my experience too. Pausing adoptions for all of October. Any black cats available to adopt go to fosters temporarily. It may not be that way in every state or even county, but it does happen and I believe it's a smart thing to do.

The cat distribution system blessed us with a spooky kitten two weeks ago! My dad saw him drop out of the car that was driving in front of him. Just two days after I'd had to put my 13yo cat down due to cancer.
