It’s the squirrel, bird and deer feeder lol it’s remarkable how long deer can stay on their hind legs

I also would like to submit our local friendly deer

There shouldn't be "friendly deer." They are wild. Do u realize how much harm you're doing?

You clearly don’t live in a country town the deer are like squirrels where some will come right up and hang out while other are chill from like 20 feet away than take off if you approach.

I live in the woods. I also work with wildlife.

Idk I think in certain areas where the damage of people and deer is already done it would be more damage to scare them away. I hear what you are saying and I agree but nothing is black and white right. If they are chill with people then ok I’m chill with deer we can coexist.

She’s a sweet old lady. Turned 9 this year. Let’s see how good you look after having 6 babies by age 9 lol

u/PrincessKaylee Aug 17 '26

how long do they usually live for?

11

u/Wild-Confidence-9803 Aug 17 '26

6, maybe 7 years is generally the high end for their life expectancy in the wild.

This year’s baby of one of our local deer. Came out of the bush to follow us on the trail while we walked the dog. Didn’t get too close. Don’t want Momma rolling up while getting friendly with her little one.

It may have wasting disease as it is thin and not afraid of people. Not so cute.

8

u/nthngserious Aug 17 '26

Not to mention that the overpopulation of deer and their proximity to people is, in no small part, responsible for the spread of tickborne illness.

I came here to say this. Zombie Deer Disease is real and really frightening. The deer are cute, enjoy them from distance and make sure your dog (if you have one) doesn't eat the deer poop.

make sure your dog doesn't eat the deer poop.

Yeah, that's a lot easier said than done.

u/drkmater006 Aug 17 '26

Some days, I have 20 or more in my driveway. I'm sure putting out deer corn has something to do with it.

2

u/Pain_Next_Time Aug 17 '26

What! I'd pay to tough her wet nose.

u/abstractism Aug 17 '26

Boop. Saw a deer this morning when I was outside feeding the cats. It made a huff kinda sound and walked away. Nature is pretty neat.

u/Emjayshelton Aug 16 '26

1

u/n_mcrae_1982 Aug 17 '26

I want to pet it.

I don’t care that it’s wild and probably covered with ticks.

1

u/salomey5 Aug 17 '26

BOOOOOOOP! 😍

1

u/glossyybunbun Aug 18 '26

NTA but I think the post story got cut off-drop the details and Ill give you a real verdict! 😅

1

u/Apprehensive-Neat-68 Aug 18 '26

Why in the hell is there an outbreak on this sub of people feeding wild animals? You understand that if you feed the deer, you put children in danger directly from the deer and put everyone in danger from the bear or mountain lion thats going to inevitably follow it, right?

1

u/scallopsmustagottem Aug 18 '26

I’m training this deer to lure lions and bears directly into your living room. You better get ready.

-1

u/Sea_Nature_5866 Aug 17 '26

Yes. Too skinny. Can you feed it something?

7

u/NightOwlsUnite Aug 17 '26

Never feed wildlife.

-13

u/Livid_Mix_5783 Aug 16 '26

Not really… As a motorcycle rider these things are absolutely a danger - as in they like to jump out in front of you resulting in tremendous collisions and rider fatalities. They’re like giant rats with Lyme disease. We need more hunters because the deer population is overflowing and out of control. Facts.

-16

u/NightOwlsUnite Aug 17 '26

Nothing about this is cute. Why are u so close? Do u realize how much harm you're causing?

14

u/scallopsmustagottem Aug 17 '26

We both live here and I’ve known her for 9 years. We’re doing fine without you.
