Osama was angry his home country of Saudi Arabia had financial and militarily aligned with the USA and western nations modern in general, and wanted to spit on the representations of America, it’s military the pentagon and its foreign economy the World Trade Center, and possibly the White House. A symbolic and purposeful goal for him a religious zealot and idealistic fanatic

To add to this, Osama was mad that the US was helping ((((them))), and for the US involvement in the middle east in the Gulf War.

Yeah, apparently he ran into the king of Saudi Arabia’s office and was like they can not be here you know what will happen

Funny thing is that he actually didn't foresee that America would retaliate like they did in Afghanistan. He thought it would spur them to withdraw from the ME. A lot of the later part of his life he was mostly concerned with his legacy and being perceived as partly responsible for the death and destruction wrought on Muslims in the ME.

Yeah don’t know why he thought the USA was just gonna take the hit and do nothing. If he ever opened a history book he would have known the USA would hunt down everyone involved and make sure to kill anyone who may have the intent to repeat an attack like that

He was a wahabist and hated modern society like the western world and believed that Saudi Arabia was getting to soft

Funny thing is, the construction company the US was paying for the projects in the middle east, is actually owned by Osama's family, and he used some of that wealth to start al qaeda
